No, it doesn't look like a '65...nor should it....get over it.

I kind of like it so far and see plenty of styling potential. Looks a little too much like an import in some photos though. Like a swollen 370z. I would have preferred the more Euro Aston Martinish design that was rumored earlier on. Cant wait to see more info on it.

Looks fine to me. The current Mustang has grown on me a lot. :)

Obviously, those photos are less than awesome so it's tough to have a true idea of what the car looks like, but if I had to pick out one gripe it would be that I think I'd like to see a more pronounced flare on the wheel arches.

...and after looking at the specs I really wish it'd been smaller. Hopefully the next-gen Camaro gets significantly smaller and lighter.

Calling these things "pony cars" is pretty absurd. Clydesdale Car sounds silly but is a lot closer to reality.

It will be interesting to see one in person. The New Corvette Stringray C7 looked like ass in pictures, but I think it looks great in person (I know it drives Great!)

I think the outer styling is a nice progression of designs cues.
I'm sure it looks even better in the flesh, several compound angles that pictures in 2D cannot capture properly.

I'm not crazy about the dash/console or the amount of little buttons on the steering wheel...
The right knee may be a bit close to the center console corner, and I dislike parking brakes against the drivers leg.

I dont like it, it looks too bottom heavy, kinda like a shoe, but it may look better in a different color than red.

I think it looks decent overall. I dont like the rear end though but it would probably look better in a dark color.

I am very very disappointed. This is everything but not an american pony car anymore...
They just coupled an import car with a european car. It lost all of that "raw american power" look we liked so much here in Europe maybe I can say that we liked all around the world. This Mustang become ........ in my eyes... sadly it following the trend in a strange world where everything is possible...

I've owned just about every Mustang body style since its inception, excluding the Mustang II, and still own a 65 FB and 4eyed Fox body. This car depicted in the photos is not what I'd consider a Mustang, too much Japanese influence. Must be Fords way of marketing the Mustang to the younger tuner kids.
We'll have to wait and see the car in person , but I feel I'll be looking at GM or Mopar, for my future "muscle-car" fix.

It is OK, and that's the problem. In my opinion we were all awaiting the next Mustang to blow us away and it frankly doesn't. It's nice that it finally has IRS which should make it a contender with some of that 500 Pony power behind it. It seems that Ford played it safe with this one and came out with a car that was safe and made up of a bunch of compromises.

I'm bias as I do love the new Camaro and I really looked hard at the Challenger. With a solid rear axle the Mustang didn't even make the list but at least the Ford guys will be able to have that item in the car.

After seeing it at PRI, I can say that I'm really impressed with the car. When the pictures were leaked, I hated it. I'm a huge Mustang guy, I think it'll just take some time to grow on people, but we'll see. I hope the performance blows us all away! The IRS is something I'm happy about although the guys on the strip probably aren't too fond of it lol.

Really hope you are right Josh. While I really do enjoy getting a rise out of people with the whole "my brand is better than your brand" debate I really don't care and I just like cars in general regardless of brand. Ford needs a win with this Mustang because they've been taking a bit of a beating lately and the competition is good for everyone. But, have to say the shaker on the new Challenger is absolute killer.

After looking at it for a week now, its definitely growing on me. I like the silver/grey colors and some angles look better than others. Also, this is the base model of each engine package. Wait for the Shelby and Boss versions to come out. I think this car will be very aftermarket/tuner friendly. Just imagine it with a Roush or Saleen body kit and lowered. There is lots of room for customization. Its still a big car though in my opinion. Wish they would have fixed that. Some photos kind of make me think of a 2 door Taurus.

I hope the public takes it well. It's quite a bit different than all of the previous Mustangs (I guess change has to happen). I'm not a fan of the whole futuristic/European look on an American Muscle car but it is what it is...

Out of all of the new cars, I think that the new Challenger's look great! They actually put more of the earlier look into the design, it seems like Ford and Chevrolet have kind of went into a different route.

I like the New Mustang. I know a lot of purists might hate it but it is a progressive design and the interior is vastly improved. However, if I had to nit-pick one little thing it would be to call Ford out on putting Ford "brand character" into the front end. I don't think that was necessary. For reference compare the front end of this car to the front end of the new Fusion. The idea behind "brand character" is so that cars can be easily identifiable through common design traits without having to look at a badge. Cars like the Mustang, Camaro, Viper, and Corvette carry their own "brand character" and don't need to share it with the rest of the product line. By doing this, Ford has potentially alienated a sizeable portion of their clientel who prefer not to see Ford Fusion design cues in their Mustang.

Don't get me wrong....it doesn't kill the look of the car, I still think it looks great. But people can be picky...especially sports car loyalists.

By the way...I read that it is lower, wider, and shorter in length and also has IRS. That will probably make it a dream to drive.

For ALL the Good and Bad discussed above about the new Mustang one question STILL remains and Ford wants to know.

WILL YOU BUY ONE???

Nope. Im a Ford guy but I already have my toy. No matter cool the new Mustang is, there will still be a sea of them on the highways. I enjoy having something different. I am thinking about that ecoboost for the Mav though. Super-lite and has potential for plenty of power. I read they are getting ready to release it as a crate motor soon.

The Maverick is different enough, drop an 03-04 Cobra motor in that thing. :6gears:
