I'm looking into purchasing a big brake kit for my 72 nova. Fisher bros speed shop in California sells a kit that uses C413" zinc coated rotors, C6twin piston calipers, custom brackets and it all works with stock drum brake spindles. No effect on wheel offset. Anyone ever heard of or used this kit before?? Any opinions.

I have no personal experience with that kit but from the pics on the website those are not C6 calipers. They do appear to be a PBR caliper but who knows which one.

I'm not familiar with PBR. What caliper is that? Sorry new to this stuff

PBR is a huge brake supplier based out of Australia who has manufactured all of the Corvette brakes since the 1984 model year, all except for the C6 ZR1 CCM brakes and new C7 units. The calipers shown here (http://fisher-bros-speed-shop.myshopify.com/collections/brakes/products/13-front-disc-brakes-67-69-camaro-68-74-nova-67-72-chevelle) are not C6 Corvette calipers, nor are they even C5 for that matter. I don't recognize the calipers for their application and wouldn't assume that they're even manufactured by PBR. Without the FMSI pad spec (D731), piston diameter (40.5mm) or some better pictures, I'd just be guessing.
Just a couple of side notes, however there's no way that this kit doesn't increase the track width relative to a drum application since it still uses the drum hubs. The hat thickness of the drum is ~.10" and the hat thickness of the C4 HD rotor is ~.30", so the increase in track width will be approximately +.20" [5mm] per side. Additionally, the C5/C6 calipers are designed to be used with 32mm thick rotors and the C4 HD rotors are 28mm thick.

Thanks Tobin. I have spoken to you about some things on my car before, very helpful. I have kore3 rear brakes. I'll have to find out more about this kit. A .20" increase won't hurt me. I just wanna make sure I'll have good stopping power.

I just spoke to Jeremy at Fisher Bros Speed Shop. He clarified what the calipers were. They ARE a PBR caliper. They are the same as the C6 calipers but have been shaved and smoothed by PBR. The replacement pads are C6 pads. The kit is designed to not need any modification to the hub or spindles. It is a bolt on unit. We'll see what I do.

So did you get this kit?
Their (Fisher Bros) kit prices seem a bit cheaper than other vendors like CPP or Kore3.

A bit cheaper may not mean better. The little extra you might pay by buying from Tobin(Apogee) also gets you tons of knowledge and experience. You should be able to see that by looking at post #4. I don't know Fisher Bros., so I'm not trying to knock them, but Tobin has helped tons of guys (and gals) here at PT.

...They are the same as the C6 calipers but have been shaved and smoothed by PBR. ...
So they made the caliper weaker by removing the ribs that add strength and help to dissipate heat? Sounds "special!"
