If any of you fellow 69 cam owners are being torn between getting 17" or 18" wheels I would highly recommend the 18" all the way the around. I am a freak when it comes to how the car looks when it comes to ride height and stance.
I was concerned about getting that ghetto fabulous look with the 18", but once they were on with my NItto 555's no worries. Bonspeed makes a great wheel and I got a great price on the wheels and tires from Custom Wheel in S. California 888 857-9974, mount, bal, lug nuts, shipped out the door $2675. Yes I had to haggle. It is definitely the second biggest way to change how your car looks outside of the paint job.

Well, I have a good reason for not having any pics. I put my wheels on lowered the car, fired her up, put it in reverse and barely moved. The wheels were almost locked up on my steeroids rack and pinion tie rod. Yes the front wheels have a small score about 10" long on the inside. This is what happens when you screw up the backspacing and go mail order. I went 5" on the back spacing should have gone with 4" or 4.25". I tried a 7/16" wheel spacer and it was still too close for me.
These Bonspeed Clutch wheels are know on sale! They will fit your 69 Camaro if you aren't using the Steeroids rack and pinion set-up. My loss your gain. :Alchy: :Alchy: :Alchy: :crying: :crying: :crying:

Cold69 - which Bonspeed wheels do you have?
Does anyone know if you would encounter a similar problem with the Flaming River rack/pinion kit? I would think so, but I'm not sure...

18" wheels will work fine with any rack and pinion set-up as long as you have the right backspacing. I bought Bonspeed wheels (Clutch) 18x8 with a 5" backspacing. I have confirmed at least half a dozen guys with 69 camaros who are running either 17x8 or 18x8 wheels with 5" of backspacing and none of them have had my problem. I have dropped spindles and they are kind of close (1/2") to the wheel. It really doesn't matter how close because obviously the spindle moves with the wheel. However, the heavy duty spherical joint that I have in place of what would normally be a tie rod end will rub with 5" of backspacing. I put a 1/4" spacer and it did not rub.
I am being anal, I want 1/2" of space between that over sized spherical joint. I drive the car very, very, hard, I have taken out BMW M3, M5, and every Mustang I have run into and they are everywhere. Both BMWs involved turns. I know there are millions of cars out there that will put my car to shame, but I have yet to run into them and its been a year.

They are being A-Holes and are playing games. Josh the worker who gave me a good deal is honest, but the owner (Don I think is an A-Hole). He is now trying to rip me off by charging me more than what I originally paid for the wheels.
UNBELIEVABLE
:machine: THIS IS WHAT I THINK ABOUT DON AT CUSTOM WHEEL
