Hi guys,

I have a 1965 442, it came stock with a 10 bolt 3:31 posi rear end. Due to a 550 ho big block and 200R4 tranny, I need to change the gearing and make sure I have a rear end that will hold up.I would also like to narrow my rear end or order one that is 1.5-2 inches more narrow than stock. I have two options I am considering.
1) buy a new carrier, gear, cut the housing down, order axles, and a disk brake kit

2) sell my existing rear end and order one complete, I am not going to be drag racing, and very little if any road coarse racing, just blowing the tires off some and driving it, I love the look of the fabricated rear ends but I just cant see paying 2500-3500 for a rear end just to drive around with. Does anyone have any suggestions?
