Does anyone have this set-up from KORE3? I Have been blowing up Tobin's email, and I know he has better things to do than being my tech expert, so asking for some PT members' help.

I have the wheel hub mocked up with about .114" of shims. I have some end play, a little more than .001. I take away the thinnest shim and now I have no end play. What is confusing to me is I need to adjust end-play by .0001, but the thinnest shim is about .002". How can I possibly get it to the tight margin of .0005-.0015" without shims that thin?

I know I must be doing something wrong. I thought maybe the decimals where a typo, as no spacer specs are ~.001-.003"....

Also...I have dead spots? like I can check end play, have some, rotate the hub 180deg and either have far less to no end-play.

Thanks,

Robby, per your invoice you should have shims that are .004", .005", .006" and .007" thick in addition to a few thicker ones (.012", .020", .039"). The .001" increment shims should give you the ability to adjust your end play accordingly within .0005" or less of whatever end play you're aiming for...you won't be able to achieve .0001" accuracy, nor is there any need to.

You say that you have a little over .001" end play now...sounds perfect.

you will have spots of different preload/end play because the actual races or the spacer between them isnt perfectly flat...unless you have a surface grinder youll be chasing your tail..Like in my ls1tech post ive set up hundreds of hubs over the years... always ran .001-.002 preload depending on the age of the hub... tapered roller bearings like preload..it maintains compliance between bearing rollers and races.. just knowing how much is key.. good thing you didnt spend a ton of cash on an indicator per your LS1tech thread....grease is key also.. I really like Chevron ultiplex EP Its tan in color for gods sake dont use crytox
