I have a winter project, probably early spring. But I cant figure out how to begin with 2 items I want to do. hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction. I want my taillight to hide the gas filler. Like on the 56 chevys. And I want to modify my tailgate to open like the old station wagons. Any and all info is helpful.

Year of truck would be handy. However, for a 67-72 most use a rear side marker and modify a hinge from a modern gas door. Works well. On a 73-87 tail light you cold also use a gas filler door.

For the tailgate, use a suicide door hinge made for modern custom car builds. They are heavy duty and readily available. It will however be up to you to fabricate the structure the hinge attaches to

The tail light thing will be completely on you. You will have to make your own hinge, gas filler neck and lock to hold up the tail light in the closed position. You may be able to pick up a gas door hinge and modify that
