I am looking at ways to reduce my intake temps. I have a 2" cowl hood that has about 1/8" or less clearance from the top of the air cleaner to the hood, so injection systems are out. I am running a Weiand 144 supercharger and I know my intake temps have to be pretty high. My coolant flows through the intake last.

Can I reverse the flow say with a electric water pump? Its a chevy 350.

Will it help?

I have a 170*stat and she usually runs between there and 180*

Is this for when you are on the street or do you drag race it and thats what you want it for.

Mostly street, occasional strip. I have spent alot of time and money to get as much HP out of her as I can. The roots style blowers put out a TON of heat and I was just looking at ways to reduce my intake temps.

I live in Florida so our daytime heat is pretty bad but even in the late evenings after driving on an 80 degree day you can touch the blower snout and its too hot to hold your hand there for more than a few moments.

Awesome Paul!

Thank you for spending the time to look into this. I appreciate that.

I was thinking of just putting on an electric pump and crossing the wires.
Yes no?

No as the blades would be facing the wrong way.

I think you're mistaken. Reverse rotation pumps, as I understand, are driven backwards because they're serpentine-driven and the belt is going the wrong direction, but they still pull from the rad and push into the block

Saw that, but on the write up of pump 8815 short style 84-91 vette theres no mention of serpentine belts like the other 2,
see what you think.

You wont cure the problem by changing the direction of flow. Your trying to put out a forest fire with a garden hose. You need a superchiller* and face the fact that the hood won't work with that combo, get a larger scoop or cut the hole! or live with the high intake temps. NOS does cool things a bit but only when it's flowing.
