A welding store I was in the other day has one on markdown, something to do with the new one has a different PN so they want to get rid of it so only one number to manage. My question is, at what price do I jump all over it?

I see them for around 1800 with free shipping and a 10% rebate that is good for a few months. I didn't read any details on the rebate. If your situation is about not spending as much money, you might look at the Eastwood 200. I've had mine for almost 3 years. I feel like I have gotten a good welder so far. It may blow up the day after the warranty expires but we deal with that on everything we buy.

I have found the 180 amp units will weld most automotive stuff, but when you're doing any 1/4" material (some axle housings, some frames, trailer stuff, building jigs, etc) you're always at the upper end of it's power range.
If you're going to do a wide range of welding that includes 1/4", I'd suggest the Miller 211 or 212.
Best wishes,
