So I have Billet Specialties rims. While installed on my 1988 g-body cutlass the center caps do not have enough room between the hub and mounting point on the rim. There isnt much room for the caps to pop back on like they are supposed to while on the car. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

I had the same problem on my IROC. I ended up re machining the center caps and modifying the dust caps to fit. The center caps are now held on with clear silicon because I had to machine off most of the o-ring groove to fit.

Not much else besides what LS1IROC said, short of putting a small spacer behind the wheel. Most wheel companies will verify the depth of the center if they were custom ordered.
So if it's their fault maybe they'd do something about it??

Its not the companies fault by any means, its just something I didnt think of when I ordered the rims. LS1 have you had any problems with yours falling off with just the silicon holding them on?

I have this problem with my forgelines. Just one of the down falls of not having a sealed hub. I will be cutting down a forgeline center cap to see if I can get it to work. Let us know what you do

I have been working with CCW on my wheels and they brought this to my attention that mine would not fit unless I had the wheels built with some extra pad depth. I would rather lose a half inch of lip and have the center caps fit.

Nope...they stay on just fine. I modified the dust caps by cutting off the dome and welding on a flat cap to replace the dome. I also ground back the excess threads on the spindle to make as much room as possible. The flat cap on the dust cap acts as a large bonding surface for the silicon as well.

On my old 16" ARE wheels with Baer brakes (with larger than stock hubs) I could not put the caps on the wheel, when the wheel was mounted. Not enough room for the tabs to fit in. But, if I put the caps on the wheel before I mounted them on the car, no problem.
Never lost one of those lousy plastic caps again.

I might take sand/grind a hair off of the spindle and then sand a bit off on the inside of the cap. Ill have to do some measuring, i really think im only off by about a 1/8 or less from the caps fitting. And I like LS1's idea off the flat dust cap even tho I tho its not really the problem in my case. For future purchases do most rims places let you add pad depth to not have this problem?
