C3 Brakes on GM A Body

Has anyone tried to run C3 brakes on their 68-72 GM A Body? The wheels I am running run tight on the inside of the barrel leaving me unable to go the C5 Kore3 route. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

You can run the C3 brakes, on the front you would use the JL8 setup that they put on 1st gen Camaros. You need drum hubs, C3 rotors and calipers, JL8 caliper brackets and either a disc brake spindle or modify a drum spindle. Plus any necessary hardware.

If I remember right the back stuff doesn't bolt on as the JL8 stuff used the larger Corvette/Big car axle end bolt pattern. You could change the flange for it. It may be easier to use either LS1 or S10 Blazer rear brakes, definitely cheaper than buying the JL8 stuff.

The Wilwood D8-4 or D8-6 calipers sure are a nice upgrade from the OE C3 calipers, both from a fit and finish perspective and weight perspective. We developed an uber-C3 bracket for the F/X-body applications (disc spindle), but it should work with an A-body as well...we developed it primarily for some vintage race guys that were limited to the C3 brakes by their class rules and have a few left over on the shelf if you're interested, but let me warn you that they're not cheap (think big chunk of pre-hard chromoly).

Would the LS1 brakes work?

The 67 GTO/Chevelle factory discs were actually a 4 piston caliper similar to the Vette caliper. Just used a small 2 piece rotor.

Years ago Guldstrand even offered a second gen spindle they modified/welded to take Vette calipers.
