I want to get a rear end lined up for my 69 Firebird Trans Am inspired clone. The car is already mini tubbed, 6-point roll bar, Ride Tech stage 2 front and rear with coil overs and muscle bars, DSE sub frame connectors with stock front sub frame, etc. I am looking at a crate 525hp LS3 from SDP and a 5/6 speed. The car will see road and a lot of track time (road course mainly). I have been looking at ordering a 9", but am unsure on width, gearing, etc. The car I track now is a 2013 Boss 302 and on the 3.6 mile course I rarely get out of 4th gear. Thoughts?

Go with a close ratio T56 magnum.
The width will depend on the wheels you choose.. I like 56" overall width on them- gives a nice dish to the wheels but not ridiculous.

For the gear, probably a 3.70.

56" overall width of the rear without brakes? Any preference on the brand/vendor of the trans and rear? Thanks!

T56 magnum is made by tremec, I can source them for you.. We use Moser rear ends, I'm a dealer for them too.
56" with or without brakes, doesn't matter. The most difference will be 56.5" with brakes so visually you won't see a difference. Again it depends on wheel choice, availability of certain offsets, etc.

My car is not near being on the road yet but I got a Moser circle track housing, comes with full floater hubs which with your plans and other car I assume that I do not need to explain the benefits of. Cost was not too bad, very happy with the quality and I got it in about a week after ordering. They probably can weld on all the brackets for you so it will be a bolt in deal, you just have to pick your brake rotor rings, brake caliper and put on a mount. I would also recommend once all the welding is done, have the housing bent to give you some camber and toe in
