exhaust muffler help 67 camaro

I bought my 67 camaro with a 327 that has a very large cam. My "very young" cousin put a 3" pipe with racing flowmaster mufflers cut at the muffler down ward under the seats. My result was a very loud drone in the car obnoxious to myself and others. I know that loud is the way to go but this was annoying. So went to the muffler shop where the guy is a master at classic cars he went down to a 2.5 inch pipe and some mufflers." Forgot the kind" now it sounds like a POS. I can't stand it. So my question is? Do I keep the 2.5 inch and change my mufflers? If so what's the best to be heard before your seen in a cool classic sound "cam American muscle popping crisp and deep"? Or should I have just kept the 3" and changed the mufflers and ran them out the back? Thanks I'm new to all this

I think tail pipes would help. Mine has 3" exhaust with turndowns after the mufflers, it is pretty loud. Adding an h pipe would quiet it down some. For mufflers I prefer a straight through glass pack style.

So if I would of just ran the pipes out the rear the drone and the extra loud would of calmed down? Also thank u for the quick reply I have to get a carb a mufflers in the next 10 days

I would think so. I don't have experience going from dumped to tailpipes or vice versa, but seems like running the exhaust all the way out would help. Having a dumped exhaust I think it resonates off the ground and up to the floor of the car making it louder.

Well now it's the2.5 with turbos on it so any recommendations on the new mufflers ?

Ok so took back to the muffler shop. He put on 2.5 inch one solid pipe to the mufflers then two 44 flowmasters and then solid pipe all the way out the back also made it a "H " style exhaust system!! The result is my car sounds AMAZING !! This is deff the way go!!! No drone and sounds super clean loud but not stupid !!!!
