Need info on fitting Elcamino fiberglass ground effects. I have a 1986 Elcamino with a body kit I attached it just to see how it looks. and drove it a few years!! The directions say to place tape above the fiberglass parts, then fill voids with bondo. I want to do as much prep work before I take it to the body shop!!

Those instructions are correct for getting a perfect fit from part to body, particularly on ground effects, which I don't see you have.
All parts should get a good blocksanding. Areas such as nose to fender should be sanded together, with filler & primer as needed, to obtain true alignment . This is true even on an all original car if you want a quality finish. That hood appears to be badly in need of alignment before bodywork begins.
That zr1 bumper you have is intended for a smooth tailgate. It's best to cut out the license plate area & have a butt joint weld around the filler plate rather that fit metal into the recess & weld, which causes shadowing.

Thanks for the input, I do have the side pieces, have not test fitted them!! The rear tail gate, I have the smooth replacement. I will just take that to the body shop after I clean & grease the internal parts!!

I had the older spoilers fx stage 1 ground effects from back around1993. The quality was never really up to my specs as delivered. Really needed some extra primer surface & some long block sanding. Also have the lower section painted unattached & the door parts either painted separate OR bond them in place with 3-m 8115 automix adhesive. Look at any of my older pics in my photobucket link & you can see a few pop off chips on the ds door part where they were painted together. Also check out my steel ground effects I made to replace the fiberglass parts.
Since you've had your glass stuff for a while, they should be better cured & more stable. Evercoat g-2 is a great primer surfacer to help improve all those parts. It also acts as it's own guidecoat by changing textures after sanding.
