View Full Version : Installing Ridetech triple-adjustables. Where's the best place to mount the resovoirs

The remote shock reservoir lines come out of the lower shock body location. This means the lines need to run through the UCA's into the engine bay or perhaps mount in the wheel wells? I just wish the lines came out to the top of the shock so it doesn't move up and down with the suspension.

I can only find one good pic of an AutoX truck who did triples in the rear ad they mounted to the frame but the vehicles are apples and oranges.

Since there's no way to flip the front shocks, do I really run the lines thru the A arms?

It just seems like, over time, the lines will rub against the A arms and in time, fail.

I'm going to tackle this exact same portion of my install tomorrow morning. I've got some ideas, we'll just have to see how they work.

I'll post pictures when I get mine worked out.

Oh sorry... going on a 65 Chevelle.

Let's stay in touch to figure out the best way to handle this. Absoltuely.

Due to packaging constraints the hose must run along the a arm then to a location where you can get to the knobs (you could put the resi on the lower arm and it would not move, but then it's difficult to get to the adjusters).

We have a TON of cars out there with a TON if miles and ZERO issues.

Fantastic. I would still like to see some pics of what others have done with their remote reservoir. Google takes me to that youtube video of the 1940-something rat rod truck with triple adjustables in the rear which does not help.

No one seems to publish what their mounting solutions are for the front. Maybe I've been looking in all the wrong places, but I thought Google was omnipotent and omnipresent. Maybe not. LOL

=-)

This is my proposed placement, to run the hose straight up through the upper control arm into the engine compartment, and mount to the inside of the wheel well (easy, but protected, access).

I may wrap the hose in masking tape and drive it around a bit to see if there are any possible abrasion points, then mount permanently.

There are some pics of the 48 Hour Camaro which show the resi's mounted to the inner wheel tubs. . .just as you are planning.

Keeps the hose in a nice place and allows easy adjustment.

Heres how mine are mounted, its up a little higher than the inner fender, but because the shocks mount in the middle of the arm, the actual movement of the hose is about (2 inches max) I videoed the cable and shock movement to make sure there was clearance when i upgraded to the triples, hope this helps

So you've got your lines running forward between the A arms, correct?

Roger

This was my first thought, running straight up and out.

Thank you Rodney.

Anyone else have a different hose route and/or mounting location?

Still need to secure my rear lines to the bottom of the trunk floor away from the tail pipes and figure out a way to plug the gaping holes in my trunk floor. Lines seem to be away from all obstructions and moving parts though and all adjusting knobs are easy to reach and get to.

You are correct. . .most of our cars have the resi's mounted to the frame rail under the rear of the car.
The adjuster mechanism is completely sealed. . .the knobs are just bolted on (if you take them off you can still adjust the compression with a flat screwdriver and a wrench.
