View Full Version : DriveShaft Angle help
I have a 1968 Camaro that is lowered about 3" in the rear and have adjustable air shocks? With 400 miles on the car, the tail shaft seal let loose...and im guessing its because of the angle of the driveshaft from the tranny. It will be hard to lift the 4L80E up any more because the tranny lines are up against the tunnel already. Any other suggestions? Do I need to re-weld the perches on my axle to change that angle as well?

i believe there are wedges you can install under the springs to get some angle, pictures might be helpful in this instance.

Does the car shake at speed? any vibrations? If not then driveline angles aren't an issue. You can buy a wedge shim to correct it. Many 4wd shops keep them.
Do a thorough inspection of your slip yoke. More than once I have had new ones with grooves in them ruin a tailshaft seal.

Probably wouldn't be a terrible idea to check your pinion and transmission angles before you start angling things. Wouldn't want to cause a problem while trying to solve one!
I will work on getting some pictures. It doesn't shake on acceptation, but once I take my foot off the gas at 50+ mph it has a slight vibration.

I would be inspecting the slip yoke fit on the transmission output shaft and seal surface.
Hopefully this helps...its a little tight taking a picture without a lift. I still have a drip coming from the transmission tailshaft.
