Last night I opened a big can of worms..... I got my car out of storage.

It started by cleaning the garage, which was actually just pulling everything I own out of the garage and putting in in the front yard (the neighbors love when I clean). Then Some friends stopped by because they thought I was getting evicted. I then called my friend that was storing my car and he said "sure am glad you called... my mom wants to put her car in storage this weekend". This would be fine except that she would be blocking me in. So we made a quick trip to Advanced Auto for a new battery, spent an hour digging it out, and fired it up without incident. The Chevelle hasent seen daylight in 2 years. Not too long, but long enough. ran kind of funny, but damn did I miss that car! Got her home and spent the rest of the night repacking the garage. Its gonna be a fun winter!
Only damage I have found is a dent on the header panel, and a dent on the drivers quarter. That one pisses me off as the quarters are new and its really noticiable. I think my buddys mom was playing darts with the lawn furniture or something. What a shame. But storage was free, so I really cant say anything.

I feel your pain. I purchased my Firebird (and jagarang is gonna shoot me here) in 1999. It has pretty much sat un-attended with no work done up until late 2004 when I started seriosuly working on the car.

What is even more shamefull is the fact that the car was actually in very good condition. I replaced 1/4's though I could have gotten away with not replacign them. The only other thing of note was teh drivers side fender needed repaired. Otherwise the car is solid and the interior less a cracked dash pad and one small rip in the headliner is perfect. WIth a fresh 455 none the less.

Regardless, it feels good to get them out and start makign plans for them again.

Wish I could post some pics, but I dont have a digital camera. Car is a 68 Chevelle that I bought when I was 16... bondoed it together and thought I had the fastest car in the world through high school with a father/son small block. Got hit by a drunk driver in it in late 97 that should have totaled the car, but instead it started me on a full restoration journey that ended in a solid, all-steel, beauty. Its black with 70-72 style silver stripes, and currently has an all too healthy 396. In fact I removed the cam over the weekend and am waiting for my new one to arrive. Im replacing the L-88 cam with a milder solid cam in an attempt to make the engine friendlier to drive. I also went and bought a 3:90 gearset, eaton posi and camaro rear disks for my 12 bolt this weekend. PLans include a 5 or 6 speed to replace my muncie. I am still looking for a trans if you know of one. I plan to re-restore my interior with some friendly amentities such as a/c and maybe a nice stereo.

I did everything I could to make it as fast and tough-looking as I could when I was younger, now I just want it to handle good, be comfortable, and be capable of sitting on the highway all day long. Its not too much to ask for a new Corvette out of my Chevelle... is it?
