i am in a dilema. i have a complete metco rear suspension kit ( billet lowers, relocation brackets, billet adj uppers, and solid rear sway bar.
due to the inhearant problems of the c4l suspension i am considering a three link system.

the main reason for this is that i cannot mini-tub the frame rails enough to fit the tires that i want. kill 2 birds with one stone - fix the bind and get more rubberunder the rear.

what i was thinking was to re-use the lowers and change the angle, and either use one of the uppers or make a new upper link.

any help is always appriciated.

It would not be too hard to engineer an upper link mount for the G body, it would be similar to the A body design I have.
I made a link mount bracket to bolt on to the upper bushing ears and a frame structure that welds to the shock cross member. Im still working on beefing up the foreward mount. Dennis will testing it out for me soon since I got rid of my test car.
I think Marcus (http://www.scandc.com/) has a set on the market, you might want to give him a call if you don't feel like making it yourself.

Right, Marcus has been testing a 3 link set up for well over a year. I think it's almost ready to go to market. It migh be worth it to by SCandC.com's for the research they put into it.

i was thinking about installing a third or fourth gen f-body 9" rear diff, using my lowers and making new frame brackets, and making an upper mount that bolts in place of the tq arm. need to measure the control am width on the f-body. i will check with scandc.

If your going with a 9" you might what to think about getting a 69 Cougar housing and building it up from scratch, or wait a couple months for the kit to come out. Doing a 3-4th gen rear will require too much work to get right.

You can buy a GNX style 3 link at:

Disclaimer: I have no idea how well it works, just remember reading an article on it.

We have been working on and testing our 3 link/phb rear suspension for about a year and a half now. We have about 10K miles on it so far. The results have been really good overall (apart from some irritating vibration issues caused by using heims for the prototype). The car becomes so much more predictable and stable in the corners that it`s MUCH easier to drive near (or even past ;) ) the limit. It let us lower the sky high rear RC height and play with the anti squat as well. The tricky part is developing bracketry that will both be strong/durable enough for their intended use AND be relatively easy to install in a home garage AND keep the price as reasonable as possible. We may end up producing a weld in system that requires a little bit of light fab work first.
There are any number of pre fab brackets available to mount a 3rd link to a 9" but you`ll end up with an ultra short 3rd link (around 8"). We got 11"+ out of ours (it`s adjustable) and can tweak the design for more. Our research has shown that there`s little or nothing gained in practical terms by moving the LCAs BTW so you may as well just start out with a G body 9" or a 9" with G LCA brackets.
FWIW the GNX setup isn`t a 3 link,it`s a slightly odd torque arm setup. The PHB isn`t level at ride height either. I`m not sure why they originally went through all the work to build a whole new rear suspension and didn`t do it right...again. Marcus

He's probably getting his new site up.

Right you are. The transition from the old to the new site isn`t going quite as smoothly as we`d like (so what else is new ;) ). The new (and improved!) site should be up by the end of the week. Sorry for the inconvenience! Marcus SC&C

the reason for the f-body 9" is to relocate the lca inward for tire clearance from the mini-tub. i need to move the fram rails in @ 2-3 inches per side.

Ah,that`s a good reason. What size tire do you plan on running? Most folks are happy with the 315s that fit by just notching the frame. I`d love to see a G body with 345s on it. :) Marcus

345/30/18 drag radials

i was thinking today about a generic 9" housing and getting the f-body mount kit, so that i can narrow the control arm mount points.

marcus - can you pm me some pics of the three link kit you are working on?

Sorry man,no pics. There`s a LOT of R&D in this package and we`re not ready to let it out of the bag yet. Marcus

can you pm me some pricing info, and what i would need to install it myself?
