Hi guys , super newbie here ... So I picked up a 1970 Chevelle in great shape , although the dude who had it a while back put a sunroof in it ... :( Really ! ... Ugh .. it's one of those gross ones from the 80's that pops up ... , and there is all sorts of sealant muck all around the edges. So how do you suggest I remove and patch the roof ? OR install some sort of slick after market sunroof that is modern and looks super cool and stealth ... GO .... ( Sorry no pix right now , maybe soon if I can get to it )

Year one sells a new roof skin which will fix the outside but the inner structure or lack there of will require either a donor car or some custom fabricating
Best of luck Ryan Austin

weld in sheet metal to replace and make a new brace if needed

I would not waste my time trying to patch the hole. AMD makes all the panels you need to reskin the roof and replace any missing braces.

I agree. I think it would be more effort to try and patch what is there and end up with a nice result.
I would pass on the idea of a nicer sunroof. Just seems out of place altogether on that car.
Or, find a donor car and change it to a convertible?

In order to change the chevelle to a convertible it takes A LOT more then just wracking off the roof..not that you didnt necessarily know that but with the work of further reinforcing the car...changing some of the interior panels and such...exterior trim... new top....etc etc etc...cheapest and easier to just get a new roof panel...i think there around 370$...new inner braces are 190$, check out either ss396.com or yearone.com... either of which are good companies. the chevelle will be fixed for no more then 2000$ including paint if you do work yourself and the car will lose the dorky look it has now
