1970-1981 Camaro Hood Hinges also fit to a G-Body?

Wondering if 1970-1981 Camaro Hood Hinges would also fit on my 1979 G-Body?

I heard 70-81 GM A-Body hood hinges are interchangeable with the G-Body's but I'm not sure about that...

F-body is Camaro
X-body is Nova
hence the AFX nomenclature everyone throws around (i.e. AFX spindle)

I would say no on a camaro hinge fitting a G-body

The g- body hood has the pivot point as far back as humanly possible without sticking out of the hood so it simply pivots up with only a single pivoting part. The pictured mechanism sits a little further forward & actually lifts the rear of the hood upwards as it lifts.

I can't really look at mine to see if there might be a space in the proper location to retro fit those hinges since mine is modified, but I know it would take a little fitting to do so. You'd be better off just fitting gas shocks since the g- body hinges are so simple anyways & not really in plain sight.

OR---- just make your own.

Kevin, I too would love to see a set of aftermarket billet hinges available for the G cars. Do you think we could convince one of the companies to do the R&D work to have these made? Surely there would be a good amount of interest & they could be offered with different rate struts for when people swap on aftermarket fiberglass hoods.

yeah would be cool! :twothumbs I just read few days ago that 70-81 GM A-Body hood hinges are interchangeable with the G-Body.. but like said I'm not 100% sure about this.. then I mixed up the A-Body models with the F-Body and posted this "wrong" thread here :rolleyes:

Aftermarket billet hood hinges would be awesome for the G-Body world and I really think they'll sell good! :angel::headbang:

Back in the day I had a set of chrome hood hinges on my 79 Z28.....my friend had them on his Malibu before he sold them to me.....and the guy that chromed them did them for his 70 Camaro...

So, I'd say yes, it should work.
