Here in NE Georgia ther is a fuel shortage. The reason being is because of the power being lost in the States involved in the Hurricane. They say, not for sure of this, that there are two oil lines that come into Ga. Both are down because they don't have power to get the lines up and going.
So, here in Ga. gas prices were 2.60 a gal (87 oct ). This is Wed. morning prices and by the afternoon it is at 2.90 a gallon ( and in some places it has been up to 6.00 a gallon!) and by late Wed. night alot of the gas stations are out and won't have any more gas until sometime Sat.
People are going crazy!
Whoa dude. Settle down. :) Those two pipelines are down temporarily and only supply 25-30 percent of the supply. The pumping stations have electrical problems, but the company that runs the lines has generators on the way. The reason the stations ran out is because people went nuts and created a shortage by thinking they had to fill up everything, right now. If everyone had just gotten gas as they normally would, no one would have even noticed a shortage.

Hey, I totally agree. But I thought it was funny to see the lines back up out into the roads. People are funny!
Yeah, people waiting 30-45 minutes to buy overpriced gas that will be back to "normal" (still too high) in a few days! :hammer:

The whole 'fuel shortage' thing is a crock of $h!t hyped up by the media and 'analysts'. Yeah there may be some supply issues, but not THAT bad. People's hysteria is what caused the real problems and ran the pumps dry in places.

$2.99 FOR REG, $2.29 FOR SUPER, at the cheap food mart stations here in Northern Ca.
This is all hype. People are talking of rigs that broke lose and ran into bridges and others that are 50 miles from where they were. First off, the rig that ran into the bridge was a driller, not a producer. And it was in for maintainence anyway when it broke it's mooring.
Do you know how many hurricanes have gone throught the Gulf? Many, but now it's a big deal for some reason. Don't let the media freak you out.
yeah over here in athens its pretty dumb. most places are 3.23 to 3.39 for regular. i go one mile down the road to a chevron thats alone by itself but still on a very busy road and they have gas at 2.99 yesterday now 3.09 for regular today. the shortage was created because of hystaeria over rumors. does everyone up north here forget how big the port in savannah is? i lived there for 19 years so i know, but i mean come on two piplines supply the whole state or even the whole northern part. yeah right. youd need mroe than two pipelines to supply ATL alone. whats worse is on my 1 hour drive home i didnt hear 99x once tell people to chill that there is no problem. all they did was laugh make jokes and say sonny said its going to be alright and gougers will be prosecuted. glad to see them try and calm the hysteria.

These are the same idiots that pick the shelves clean here in Jersey when a bad snow storm is predicted. Like we live in freakin Alaska or something and we would be buried in 30 feet of snow..... wow the stupidity astounds me... I wonder if sales of the "Tornado" are going through the roof... We all know that things saves gas milage...LOL
