View Full Version : LS2 swap - scan data output issue

Hi all,

I want to thank Pro-Touring and everyone that helped me work through the install of the LS2 from a GTO into my '69 Camaro. I learned a LOT and the car is a beast... now I need a bigger wallet to make the car use the new power without blowing the rear tires off with ease.

I drive the Camaro as much as possible... daily if possible. That's been my goal from day 1. But I'm having an issue with it running rough.
I'm using ScanXL on my laptop to collect data. It works fine. I have not replaced any parts yet because I'd be chasing my tail. I was hoping the ODBII data would help pinpoint the issue, but I'm not sure the data is within specs or not for a 2006 Pontiac LS2 with an A4 trans.

The issue with it running rough seems to be all Bank 2 problems.
The first being that I get no data for Inj. PWM Bank 2. Bank 1 is within specs. Also, the Bank 2 O2 sensor voltage is flat at 438mV, where Bank 1 sensor fluctuates as it should, the way I understand O2 sensors.
My misfire data is random, with random misses here and there across several cylinders, but I don't get any MIL lights or ODBII codes. The roughness feels like a cylinder is not firing, but I haven't collected any scan data while driving it yet... just idling.

The scan log was collected at operating temp at idle. One or two of the blips in the data are from increasing engine RPM very briefly.
I couldn't upload the Excel file of all the scan data, so I turned some of it into charts for easier reading. Here is only a few of the scan log data points... the one's I thought would be a good glimpse of what's going on. I can get any other data points I need if it'll help someone point me in the right direction.

The A\F ratio is 14.7:1 all the time. It doesn't change. Maybe it's not being collected or reported by the ECM.
The MAF reads within specs.
The Evap has been turned off in the ECM. The vacuum port for the Evap solenoid has been completely plugged, as is the unused vacuum port at the rear of the intake (small .125" port).
The breather tube in the bank 2 valve cover that used to attach to the air intake runner is open... no plug or filter.
The wiring to the Bank 2 O2 sensor is intact, but I haven't swapped sensors to see if the issue follows the sensor yet. My hands are too big to snake up in there to unplug the drivers side. I don't know what my fuel pressure is at the rail. I'm using a Tanks fuel tank with a Walbro in-tank pump. It doesn't starve for fuel. I don't have any hesitation or lag... it'll roast the tires at any speed.

Sorry this is so long. I'd like to get the car to a tuner soon, buy I want to see if I can eliminate the issue before putting it on the dyno.
Thanks all!

Glad to hear your enjoying your ride! I still have a similar issue with my engine running rough with almost the same symptoms.

I swapped my o2s, then coilpacks to narrow my issue down to the wiring harness on bank1 circuit. Sorry, no definitive answer.

Thanks...
I'm gonna start with the Bank 2 sensor and go from there. If it persists, I've been racking my brain trying to figure out where the Ijn. PWM Bank 2 signal originates or how it gets reported. If I can figure out why there's no Inj. PWM signal being reported, I may have found the issue.
