I was working on setting up my gears in my rear end and I went to install the inner pinion bearing and it just slid on no press needed. Is that normal? The bearings are new but the gears were lightly used.

Do you have a Daytona pinion? Sounds like you have Daytona bearings for a regular 9" pinion.

BTW - No, that's not normal. The bearing needs to be a press fit.

Yes its a daytona pinion support. Is the daytona bearing a little larger inside diameter? I know the od is larger.

Well I just pulled it apart and the bearing is seated on there now. I ran the pinion nut down on yoke but had not set the preload yet so I was able to pull it apart. I would have had to press the bearing off as it was not coming off by hand.
