So I just got in trouble for telling people to switch to an LS powerplant and 4l80/NP205 drivetrain on a International SCOUT II facebook page. Who would have thought that there are purist IH SCOUT guys out there..... 88mph 1.21giggawatts.... 1972 ....stay there!
just a little irritated over this!

Lol. Buddy of mine bagged his scout and made a permanent convertible. He gets slack all the time.

Ohh I cant wait, I am torn between building a lowered LS SCOUT with a CTS AWD setup 315 45 20 all around or building a scout with long travel suspension and a BEEFY drive train. I was more mad about this than I was the day the guy told me I didnt deserve my GTO because I wasn't keeping it stock.

There are purists in every range of car out there. Don't let it get to you.
But, I'd also ahve to say that is the predominate focus of that forum is off road prowess, the LS isn't the torquiest mill out there and may not be the best selection for low speed, low rpm, 4wd action.

An LS with a twin screw would have plenty of tq, lol. I hope you make it an off road vehicle as it would look great. Is there even a performance line for IH engines?

People who keep their old cars slow, boring and troublesome to maintain are retarded.
All that matters on a car is the body, the vin and who built it.
I never saw the downside to upgrading a classic car.
Hell, the only reason you keep anything original if it is going to rise thousands a year in value, or if it is a precious vehicle.
'67 Lamborghini Miura. If I owned one I would keep it original for the value.
If it didn't have any value - It'd be slammed on a custom chassis, have an blown Viper V10, and be sitting on 18" wheels with big ass brakes, full cage and carbon fibre doors, front clip and engine cover purely because aluminium is still heavy. :P
