Here is a pic of the Carbon Kustom ram air hood on my truck.

The hoods sell for $2,200 USD in full Epoxy Carbon..... The are also available in Epoxy Carbon & Composite $1,700 USD and Vinylester Composite for $1,400 USD plus packaging and shipping charges....

If there is interest in the hood pm me. If we pre order 5 69-72 hoods they will be tooled up. Is there any interest in a cowl panel that would be smooth?

Super amazing. Wish it worked with my '71. Still love it.

There has been some interest in the 69-72 hoods if we get 5 pre-ordered Albert will build them.

Cool. But Albert said these will not fit 70-72. Or have things changed?

They will not fit the 69-72 but he will make them if we get some sold to justify making another buck.

Do you have any pictures of the underside? Any ballpark pricing on the cowl?

Amazing. Silly question. Is it just the leading edge of the top bar (GMC) or Grill surround that stops this hood from working? Not familiar with them.

ok I am sure everybody knows or understands but I will clarify some.
the 67-68 use the same hood. The 69 to 72 then use the same hood. Alot of people like the 67-68 design better so they swap the fenders and rad support and a new hood on the 69-72 trucks.
Now on the GMC I am not real sure on fitment but I know the 67-72 are all much closer to the 67-68 chevy and maybe even the same.

Anyway that looks great I would certainly love to sport one on my 68. That would look good with my Yellow...
Thanks for the neat product.

That's the issue. I'm not willing to give up my fenders or '71 GMC grill. But, I am willing to fabricate a new grill top bar to make the hood work.

So is the GMC hood different than all of the Chevy hoods? I know they are similar but didn't know how different they are?

The only difference in any 69-72 Chevy/GMC hoods is the placement of the emblems. The actual hoods are all the same.

Woah. Hold on Slick68. That's not 100% correct. The leading edge of the 67-68 hood is different than the later square nose hood. The grill chrome top bar for the GMC and the grill surround for the Chevys are affected too. Not to mention the eyebrow chrome on the fenders.

Also, Albert, who makes the carbon hoods told me these hoods do not interchange.

Now, I don't know exactly how different they are, but I have a field trip planned to find out.

I'll post photos of the key area when I have a better Internet connection.

Outside of the obvious differences, i.e. logos and shape of the nose. The actual leading edge of the hood is different - see circles in photos. I found these two photos to illustrate the differences. The Chevy C10 is the same, other than the obvious grill and trim changes that have mounting holes.

Please note: I am doing all of this from internet research at the moment, as I own a '71 GMC. If you own a 67-68 and I am off base - PLEASE correct me.

I have a 1970 chevy C-10 with a 67-68 hood. You have to swap out the entire front end. I have 1968 front fenders (side markers), a 67-68 front grill, and a 67-68 core support.

Could you post the weights of these different options again plus that of a factory hood? Is it correct that they will all work with the factory hinges and latches?
Thanks they look great.

I understand the differences in 67-68 hoods and 69-72 hoods. I was just referring to the fact there is no difference in the 69-72 hoods between Chevy and GMC.

As of now, the only hoods being produced are the 67-68 style, but if Chris got enough orders, he could get some 69-72 style made, in which case they would work on your truck without any mods.

I will try to weigh some hoods to get exact numbers. The carbon hood is light 20-22 pounds. There is a good chance of the later hood being built there has been a lot of interest in it. We just need some people to step up. I'm going to start on the bucks for inner fenders that will clear 315 tires and a smooth cowl. Same thing on them parts let us know if your interested in them.

Hey Slick68. Totally fair. and sorry, wasn't intending any ill-regard. Just wanting to make sure everyone knows the differences between the hoods so know one gets something that does not fit.

And Smittys - I'd be interested in the inner fenders - 100% - it is safe to assume they will work with the stock rad saddle and fender mounts? Should this topic have it's own thread? One question - will the smooth cowl have provisions for windshield wiper arms?

The inner fenders will be built to run in factory mounting points. They will not have a steering shaft cut out in them you would have to notch that if your running a stock steering gear ( I will make a template). Not made to lay frame. The cowl will have wiper provisions.

Amazing. Thank you.

Also, not worried about frame laying as the less time is spends static, the better. It is build to move.

That is a very awesome hood.

Unfortunately I am a cheap-ass.

Interested in weight deltas between the 3 options of hoods and a stock steel hood...also between the inner fenders and stock steel inners.

I will try to get out soon and weigh my extra stock hood. It is heavy I can tell you that.

Weights...
Stock hood 69#
Aftermarket cowl 1 68#
Aftermarket cowl 2 79#
Carbon Hood with Ram Air 26#
Hood minus Ram Air is probably 2-3 #s lighter.

Here is the picture of the bottom. They use factory hinge and latch mounts. We are still getting a lot of interest for the 69-72 hoods just a matter of some people giving the final ok and we will pull the trigger.

Was just wondering if you were ever going to still build the 69-72 hood? Was also interested in the inner fenders to accommodate the wider wheels.

How do these hold up to the sun? I have read up some on carbon fiber and read some will fade badly in the sun... not sure if it the quality of products used or ? but just thought you might have some insight.

I am very interested in a non-ram air. What happens if I need to cut it? I have a radial entry blower on the LSX motor I run. I also use Porter built hood hinges... any way to do a provision for those?

I can probably get the hood without the 2 halves bonded. Then you could put inserts in.

I know this is a very old thread but was this hood ever produced? Is it still?

I have a beautiful 68 C10. Love the hood. I live in the Carolinas. How do I get one?
