Yeah, that's hi-freakin-larious. "Hello, I'm worried about my son's safety, but I'm thinking about buying him a 550HP hot rod." I guess junior is trying to convince mommy that this is a suitable "first vehicle".
"Q: Do you think there is any possible way to install airbags for safety purposes? I want to buy this for my son but am worried about older cars not meeting today's safety standards. Thanks Aug-29-05
A: Hi jacegan; I would think that air bags could be inatalled. I know the steering colum would have to be replaced. You would have to check with someone who does that sort of conversion. I have three and a half years in the restoration of this car and never thought about that conversion. It does have updated suspension and steering. If you have other questions just ask, or you can call me @(559)673-7247 Thanks for you interest. Rich T"

Lots of nice parts and some nice work, but it doesn't work for me... not integrated enough, too many gee-gaws, blingbling. Clean it up and tone it down, and it's a nice car. Overall it's probably worth the $40k in work and parts, but not a dime more, and if I was gonna clean it up and tone it down, -$10k.

I know I'll probably take a small beating for this but I have to give him credit for one thing...no Torque Thrust IIs....nice to see something different...anything. I actually like those wheels. They look pretty good in a 17" size.
It's a nice car but the stance isn't quite low enough for me and the thunderbolt hood scoop just kills the lines of a nice clean Mustang street machine.
Other than that it's pretty cool. Man, airbags???!!! What the...did this guy eat paint chips as a kid...his response "HEHEHEH!...WHHHYYYY?"

I think its worth up to $45k for somebody looking for that type of paint job and mods, remember, if the car was stock with a standard 302, it would still close at $30k. The paint is nicely done, but not my choice for color..too much bling. Clean, rust-free , good running (if there are any) fastback Mustangs are going for good bucks these days.

I am with you on the tt2 and I like those salt flats too...i think USAZR1 has some with 345's on a wicked el camino
yeah the back needs to come down and maybe loose the spoiler, i never liked it on the 65-68 cars...and a 67 Shelby style hood might look better

I can't believe people are that far detached from older cars that they'd ask a question like the airbags, my friends parents are like that.
Mustangs can be appealing to me but I'm just not feeling this one...

much better. it still needs a diff hood though.
In the Mustang world, the teardrop hood is very desireable.

The hood has to stay. I'm tired of seeing cowl induction type hoods on brands that never had them. Just like TT2's - enough already. The photochop has the toned down look nailed. Nice job!
I guess I'm the odd man out heer because I think that car is simply badass. I love the stance, love the wheels. The hood is okay, but I'd probably change that. Otherwise I would definitely pay for that car if I had the money.

Agreed.
I understand your point about the hood being different. However, it takes away from the contours of the body. I like that hood on the non fast back mustangs better. I would also remove the rear spoiler.
Sweet car. 40$ grand now days would be a drop in the bucket at what that car would cost you to build. Just ask me. I would say that looks like a good buy. Of course you would have to inspect the car for confirmation.

Excellent job DarkBuddha....I knew there was a better looking car in there somewhere and you found it! Plus I am glad you axed the rear spoiler....

Or in the Ford world in general. That is the hood that came with 427 SOHC "CAMMER" equipped 1964 Ford FairlaneThunderbolts.

Nice photochop..
Some parts like the dash I really like and others are not my taste but all seems to be done well. He has the expensive Chris Alston front suspension.. the coil over system is over $2k alone.
Anyways.. a beater fastback goes for $14k these days so $40k would be a deal for a car with this content.. especially to someone who likes the paint design.

Meh, ugly ass wheels and a poor choice in the hood. At least the wheels aren't TT2's, I'm so sick of seeing those. But what he's got on there look like dinner plates.
I wouldn't say it's worth 40k unless the car is a GT of some sort. The mods are great but I wouldn't say that it's worth what he's hoping to get.

That paint looks a mile deep. Very nice color. I would not mind owning that one.

Actually no production or even "semi-production" cars ever came from the factory with the 427 SOHC "cammer" engine. The Thunderbolts were built by Deerborn Steel Tubing Company, 50 in 1963 and 50 more in 1964. All of these cars came with 427 center-oiler hi-risers. The SOHC engine was not available until late 1968, and then only over the counter.

Glad ya'll like the photochop... I know it isn't as easy to make over a car as it is to do a photochop, but it sure would be with this car.

I don't care for the paint or the hood scoop.
Paint it black, put the Eleanor ground effects on it and dynamite the hood and I'd drop 40 bills on it in a heartbeat..
