Here are a few quick pics of my 68' Camaro that I am just finishing up with a LS/T56 swap and had the interior redone (traded out work)
I used the factory 68 Camaro center dash panel with a aftermarket Metra single DIN mount molded it in and had a Local company here (Sin City Hydrographics) dip it in black carbon fiber, then used both 220grit sandpaper and scotchbrite pad to give the perimeter the "brushed" aluminum look to match the Twist Machine shifter handle for the T56
The center console is from a 2013 Camaro, but I took my old Autometer 4 gauge pod from the stock 68-9 center console and fab'd & molded it into the Gen 5 Camaro 6spd shifter bezel (had a tray with no gauges) filled in where the factory traction control switch went and drilled two holes for my heated seat switches
Then had the crew @ Sin City hydrodip them
The seats were recovered in black leather and suede by Jose @ ABC Discount Upholstery here in Vegas, he also did the console "pouche" where the factory e-brake would be

They are a brand called Hunsaker w/ Corbeau brackets, but they were purchased new from another member, who's project cancelled and I had them recovered the way that you see them
Thanks, Jeff

It wasn't something that "just went right in"
A little trimming to meet the dash the way I wanted, trim around the Vintage Air box on passenger side, then alot of molding on the shifter bezel, make mounts for it
I also wired in the USB and 12v ports that are inside the console, for Ipod or phone
it covers the Gen # "411" pcm great! (it is mounted on the trans tunnel under the 4 gauge pod, using a factory GM pcm holder bracket (slightly modified)

That looks really amazing! I had those seats in my Mustang too, super comfy but they were too wide.

Yes, but it's quite the compliment when it looks like it "just went right in." That means you did a very clean install.

Jeff, it was good meeting you yesterday. The car looks great and the console is a great idea. Looks like that will be my first project when I get mine out here.

Love it. One of the cleanest I have seen. Everything really blends in well. I'm also interested in knowing what Metra adapter you used. Hopefully you don't mind sharing.

Sorry for the delayed reply!
Just busy lately
I used a Metra Volvo multi kit part # 99-9222, it was real close to the correct angle, but still had to be "secured" to the original center dash panel, then fiber-glassed / blended in
I bought it off Amazon for $11.99

It was great meeting you also!
Been busy with work and finishing the car up, now have it in the Super Run Car Show, in downtown Henderson
They are saying that they have over 1200 cars registered!!
I know that it was busy yesterday, you should stop by!

The console looks great. I had thought about doing the same thing and I'm glad you took the liberty of providing a very good example.

Question for you guys,
I found a 2012 Camaro console is that the same as a 2013? I like the way this turned out!

Question for you guys,
I found a 2012 Camaro console is that the same as a 2013? I like the way this turned out!
Physically yes, I believe that they are the same basic console
But what I noticed is that some of the earlier 5th gen's had their interior called "Titanium" which is more like a really dark gray (some call it black), compared to the 13' console that is in my car called " black" ??
I have had both and could tell the difference in color, especially when held next to my original 68' "black" interior panels
Also, some models had the hard vinyl console lid and others came optioned with the leather wrapped console lid ( either in white "stone" stitching or red for the ZL1 models) can easily be swapped out
there are custom color stitching lids out there as well
I scored a great deal on Ebay on my 13' ZL1 takeout w/ 1500 miles on the car, complete console (no gauges) shipped for $150, the "non-gauge" shifter panel was $30 shipped off the Camaro5 forum (V8 6spd model)
hope this helps
Thanks for the info. I paid $150 also for the one I found. No gauge console.

Thats a very nice interior!
I would love to see some better pics of your back seat. Is it a modified stock seat? Do you have mini-tubs?

I take and post some pics of the back seat and post them
i used to have a factory rear fold down seat, but after 9 years and only folding it down twice, I sold it off to help fund the build
It is a standard rear seat now upholstered to match the front seats , done at the same time with the same french seam / stitching as my seats, console lid and Momo steering wheel
Not modified and unfortunately, no mini tubs!

This is a really nice job you've done on this. I like it so much it is making me rethink the interior on my project. I had planned a recover of the stock interior in more modern materials but the safety concerns while reading the recent safe thread has me thinking of changing up to newer seats and interior pieces. what you've done has helped me see it can look even better than the original. This is one of the nicer interiors I've seen in a while.

Console looks awesome. Shifter seems really high & far ahead. Is there a way to get it lower & farther back...?

Thanks I appreciate it
I installed everything to fit my size , seating position and comfort
the console could be located further back , but not much ( wouldnt meet ip with the dash to my liking
the shifter actually has a adapter to locate it approx 2.5" forward at the base , just to be centered in the console shifter hole opening and then sweeped back with the Twist Machine adjustable shifter
it is a F- body LS T 56 so the shifter location is actually further back, but again for my size 5'10" and arm length I moved it forward so that it is comfortable that when I take my hand from the steering wheel my hand naturally drops on to the shifter ball
Thanks Jeff

I really like this interior as well. I haven't done mine yet, so naturally I'm getting some ideas. I am using a Muncie 4 speed with a Hurst Super Shifter. Unfortunately, the shifter is only about 6 or 7 inches tall. I can't use the stock console, so I'm thinking about making a taller shifter as you did. I really like the short throw of the shorter handle though. Your interior looks really good!

Okay so this is years old but I am new to the First Gen Camaro game - I love what you did with the car - I have a 13 console and I want to mold / mod the shifter console like you did for 4 gauges I am currently using a TH400 but will be switching to a T56 Magnum trans soon hopefully and installing a Vintage Air unit ( I have no Heat OR A/C right now).
Thank you and nicely done

I have a 79 Camaro with a TKO500, would this work? Where did you get the bezel with the regular gauges? Also the bezel for the Radio ... if you can give me the link on that maybe they have one for the 2nd gen.

the bezel for gauges was made with the original; 5th gen "non-gauge" shifter bezel and an Autometer 4 gauge pod plate for 68/69 Camaro console
the single din radio mounts, I designed and make a flush bolt in style now
Thanks, Jeff
