New member here inspired by Vetterodder's post on his '64 restomod project.

This project will move along MUCH SLOWER than his by a long shot. Based on finances, time available to work on it and starting with a partial vette in rough shape. My wife and I purchased this car in 1990 while living in Minnesota. Titled vette just sitting in a farmer’s field since the early ‘80s. I was in the middle of a seven year major custom on my ’80 vette which was completed in ’95. We moved to Livermore, CA in ’96 and drug the ’63 along. Then moving back to the midwest in ’99 after picking up a CA ’67 SS Chevy II. Very busy raising kids, starting a business and very involved in our Baptist church has kept me away from starting this long-awaited project. I played with tweaking SS over the years. We also enjoyed boating in the Ozarks with our family. Began to wonder if my own kids truly understood how hard it was to side-line my ‘hard-core-car-guy-plans’ all these years. No regrets. God has blessed me with a great wife and kids. Next year, we will have both kids off to college and the in-laws moved close by, so time to get kicking!

Began setting my Missouri shop up over this last winter and began stripping down the ’63 this spring. I haven’t pulled the trigger on the chassis purchase which will set the high-bar on this ride, but I am heavily leaning toward the Street Shop C5/6 chassis and have spoke with Trey a number of times. Tough to write a check for a rolling chassis costing more than my Nova may be worth…. Planning on an LS3 with an automatic. The body will utilize GTS custom’s wider rear quarters so I can squeeze at least P315’s under the tail. Mostly- stock body, but I have some tricks planned as well. Zora and crew did such a blasted nice job, I won’t deviate much. The interior will be built from scratch since that’s what I really enjoyed doing on my ’80. Got to keep the soft top! This will be the car my wife and I will travel all over this great nation so ride, handling, comfort, performance and stunning looks are the primary goals. No trailer queen here, I’ve gotten enough grief over the years about my ’80.

Well, that pretty much sets the stage. Hope you folks enjoy the posts and pictures. God Bless! -Scott

welcome here Scott, looks like you've got "some" work ahead of you ;-) I like the Nova, do you also have a pic of the '80 Vette?

Nice vette - how big is your shop?

Thanks! Just 1,600 sq ft shop side + 300 sq ft office with bathroom.

FYI- I've spoke with Mike at SRIII and I'm planning a visit soon. Hearing better feed-back about SRIII than some other chassis shops...

Thank goodness you are going with SRIII instead of Street shop! Good choice. Mike is top notch! He genuinely cares about his customers, unlike other companies.

Are you going to use a one piece front end or drop the big bucks on a press molded jig assembled unit?

Well, this must be the day 'WHEN I HAVE TIME'.... :guilty:

As I'm drawing closer to the end on my build, I thought I'd share what's been going on. As she comes together in the next year, I'll go back and give some detail on the cool stuff!16830816830716830616830416830316830516830216 8301

I am confused. I see at least three corvettes in your pictures, which one am I looking at? I like all three, is the black one also the silver one? Is the white one also yours? I love the headlights on the black one, that is super sexy.

I believe the "white" and "black" car were various stages of sealer and primer. I think the metallic silver/gray is the final color and the photos were not necessarily posted in order.

Ok that helps, but one was defiantly a hard top, and the rest were soft tops, so still a but confused.

that white hard top in the background is a '67....presumable just another Corvette in the same shop for work?

Thankful at Thanksgiving 2019! Glad to get Rae home from paint. I've never done a 'paint off the chassis' body before and I'm super excited at the quality. Every hour working on the car from here on should be a lot of fun. No deadlines, just plodding along meticulously as always. Enjoying the fruits of thousands of hours and (many) thousands of dollars spent!
