Hello all,

I'm Lance. Last spring, a friend of mine was doing a cleanout on a house that was in forclosure. The woman whose house it was, had sadly just lost her husband. My friend called me and said there was a muscle car in the garage that the woman wanted to sell. I went to look at the car. A 68 Mercury Cougar. However, it was not the typical cougar that i am familiar with. The car was painted electric green with ghost flames in the hood. Upon popping the hood, I was amazed at the impressive work that had been done. The motor appeared to be new, adorned with high performance gagetry. Inspecting the tires, I saw wide low profile goodyears set on fat Kragers with the color of red high performance calipers peeking through the rim holes. Looking under the car, I was blown away! Every thing was new! Sway bars, torsion bars, stabilization add ons a plenty! Right down to the Hooker headers that streamed toward the rear of the car where I noticed something that didnt even resemble a gas tank. A square, angled, stainless steel tank that seemed to fit perfectly. New fenders, a new interior waiting to be installed, new old stock emblems and parking lights, and all the parts needed to finish this sadly abandoned, almost completed project. Then I pop the trunk and see two stainless steel tanks. Nitrous?? I'm thinking? No, an air ride suspension system! I have never seen a car like this or heard of pro touring until my buddy Shawn saw the car and informed me of what I had, and educated me about the pro touring phase of hotrodding. For the past six months, I've been finishing a 64 Plymouth Valiant convertible that I'm fixing up for my fiance for her wedding gift.(yes, I'm a nice guy)! All the while, itching to get started on this Cougar. However, the task ahead for me is daunting to say the least. Especially with winter closing in, and a wedding to pay for in the very near future. Despite my best attempts at convincing her otherwise, my wife is urging me to sell this car. I was going to advertise it locally, then I figured if there is a phase of hotrodding called pro touring, there must be a website for it. That's how I arrived here. I'm not sure if this is even a place to advertise or even how much i should ask for this car. Like I said, I'm new to this, and with all due respect, you guys are the experts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've attached some pictures. Check it out, and if you would be so kind, give me your advice. Thank you, and best regards.

Lance

Well, if the car interests you, I would finish it. There has been a lot of work already completed. If you had never thought of owning a Cougar, or anything like it, you would probably be better off selling it off to someone who has the passion to finish it. Just my thoughts.

If you have most or all the parts to finish, dont sell it. i would finish it or at least assemble it using the parts that came with it and enjoy it, knowing that you have a wedding to pay for i would set this aside until the '64 was done and then do this as kind of a driving project when you get the time, and a year or 2 down the road if you dont see yourself doing anything to it at least you gave it a shot. think about it, if it comes with most/all of the parts to make it road worthy it would only really cost you some time.

Thanks for the advice. I like the car, and I've always wanted to restore a muscle car, but it looks like this one will most likley find another home. Nice car man. Excellent color choice!

Thanks for the advice. I wish I could do that, but there are powerful forces working against me. Namely, a pile of bills! lol. I may have to find it another home, but thanks for that well intended advice. Maybe in a few years I'll find a Shelby in some barn out in the country! (I'm quite the dreamer!). Peace bro.
