I am building a '50s rat rod and thinking about taking the rims off my 70 Chevelle.... It's going to take some time to convince my wife since she picked them out. 81721

That car is perfect...don't touch a thing. Tell your rat rod to get it's own damn wheels ;-)

Love the Chevelle! And, FWIW, "rat rod" and billet rims don't go together in my book...

Thanks for the feedback. That's what I was thinking...it was actually my wife's idea. I think she's just trying to steal my rims. Hoping for enough response to get her to change direction.

What car are you building a "rat rod" from?

When I think of "rat rod", especially a 50's rat rod, it would not include those wheels from the chevelle.
They look perfect on the Chevelle, I'd look around for something else for the rat rod.

It's a '50s chevy truck...not sure it's an actual rat rod. It's going to be a petina and I am considering mini tubbing it also. I didn't think the rims would fit either-- but I put one on and it looks sick. I was surprised. I usually just humor my wife w/ her ideas.

I think you can get a bit lower if you really put some effort into it!! :) hahahahahaha
I don't think you should change anything!

Buy something similar for the truck, unless you are wanting to change-up the Chevelle... THEN, give 'em up and get something new for the car... :)

Astroracer-- from Michigan? I am from Kalamazoo originally. Came to NoDak in the 90's.
I didn't think I'd like the rims on the truck and it was nice to see them on there before the purchase. It's supposed to be a low budget build (the car didn't turn out to be very low budget).

Yup, Michigan. Near Flint. Was in Kalamazoo many times for the street rod shows.
Well, using "guy" logic... Using the rims from the car would be free...(kinda). Of course buying new rims for the car would just add onto the pile for that one... Savvy?

You can change the wheels but don't put them on the truck. Please.

Those wheels would fit a rat rod like tap shoes on a cat burgler. A cherry'd hot rot yes... but those wheels go against the principal of a rat rod

Not putting the rims on the rat rod...rolled them up on there and just too much for the '50 truck. Still considering changing the 'Velle's rims...

Besides the phone dying too soon...I think I will keep these rims.
