I have been looking for a momentary switch that will handle starting the car. I currently have the industrial looking black rubber push button starter switch. It works great but looks like it should be on a John Deere not a 67 Camaro convertible. I really don't want the switch to attract alot of attention. I have seen some that are red acrylic pushbutton that light up. I want it to be a little tricky to start the car so the ameteur theives have to think about it a little bit. Lookinf for a regular momentary toggle that will handle the current to start the car.

how about one off of a viper or viper truck? you would have to rewire the circuit to utilize a relay.

If your looking for security, a friend of mine use to wire his key switch to a magnet switch type thingy, for anyone to start the car, you would have to find where the magnet was located, and then attach another one to it, (it was hidden behind sheet metal, like on the dash somewhere) he would stick his magnet on the dash then turn the key to start the car.

He kept the otherside of the magnet on his key chain, lol just an idea.

I never thought of that. But I remember an old freind of mine that had a setup like that. We both know that a committed thief will probably be able to steal an unattended car. I just want to make them earn their keep if they want to take mine. I already have a separate kill switch that you have to throw to start the car. I might be strange but I like to turn the key and then have a separate switch for the starter. I suppose the relay idea is the simplest. Just pick out a momentary switch that matches everthing else and use a relay to handle the current. Thanks for the reply!

I have seen some, i don't know how high of quality. But I think they are called Ignited Industries or something like that. I know Ignited is in the name. They make push button starts. Illuminated or not too.

Heres a link to the Ignited momentary starter swich. I used one on my custom dash that I had DSE build for me but I have not had a chance to actually use it yet. Looks like a nice peice though. Sorry for the large image.
