I have been planning this project for several years and hopefully this week the car will get to my fabricator to start welding on it.
The plan: 1970 AMC Javelin......needing some inspiration...I don't want to clone the Penske Javelin but want to incorporate elements of the Penske Javelin, AMC's NASCAR efforts, and some Group B rally which I love.....maybe a "what if Penske" Group B tarmac car.
Engine: 1970's AMC NASCAR style engine with modern parts. I have a crank, block, and custom intake from the AMC NASCAR effort I will use in the build. 3.49 stroke with a 4.110 bore
Drivetrain: GM aluminum Super T10 going back to a NASCAR floater 9".
Front Suspension: Factory boxed in control arms with custom coil over setup using QA1's and a Schroeder sway bar.
Rear Suspension: Keeping the leafs but going with Calvert split mono's, QA1 rear shocks, and a Watts link.
Brakes: Wilwood GT6000 in the front and Wilwood GTIII in the rear with 13" rotors on 5x5 GN hubs all the way around.
Steering: Woodward collapsible column going to a 14:1 Sweet steering box
Interior: Spartan race car look with two buckets, fiberglass dash, and roll cage.
Body: All steel with fiberglass hood, deck lid, and front bumper.
Plenty of other stuff planned but those are the basics. The picture is how the car currently sits......cant wait for this to get going.
