My 68 has two grey and two purple wires for the neutral safety switch and reverse lights but the shifter only has two terminals on the microswitch. Do I need another switch or a purple and grey on each terminal. I called b&m and the guy told me two purple on one and two grey on the other but that doesn't make sense to me. Any thoughts?
thanks

The B&Ms I'm familiar with have two switches.. Doesn't make sense how only one switch would work with two different functions.. Which shifter do you have? Surely there is a wiring diagram available. Also you can check to see what happens when the shifter is in the different gears with a multimeter.
EDIT: saw that its a quicksilver shifter. Instructions show two switches.....

I've had a few Quicksilver's and they should have two switches stacked like this.

You guys must be right. Guy must have meant two wires to one switch and two on the other. Thanks for the pics. Looks like grey on top and purple on bottom. I got it used so maybe I've got the wrong switch on it.
thanks guys

I thought things were figured out then I realized if I don't have the right switch, what switch do I need? Or do what the B&M guys said and put two wires to each terminal?

If its meant for two switches, one is not going to make the other work. So if one switch connects the reverse lights, then you'll be able to start the car in reverse only..
Switches can be had on summit I think. B&M has a part number for them

The 2nd gen console mount Quicksilvers don't come with switches so I had to get them separately. If I remember correctly I bought them from Summit drop shipped from B & M. All they are is the regular microswitches that you can use for Nitrous activation etc. The tricky part is getting the long thin screws that will go through both switches which you can also get from B & M if you buy switches from them. With the switches in place it's easy to tell which one is reverse lights and which is the neutral safety by looking at the mechanism and rowing through the gears.

Two switches. Okay, thanks. I'll get another ordered. It will be interesting to see how that works.
