Big wheels + Fender Skirts?

How do you guys with big wheels and fender skirts do it? On my 62 Falcon, because the wheel wells are half covered (fixed fender skirts), it is really difficult to install my wheels. I just put my caliper on and I can't get the wheel on. I'll figure something out, but my problem just got me to thinking about how others have dealt with this same issue. How are you guys doing it?

Can you unbolt the shocks to let the wheel travel down a bit more then reattach it after its all on?

That certainly is one option I've thought about. I'd rather not have to do that but I could. I've wondered if that's what others are doing.
