Kevin, (Jagarang) is the god of car hunters and negotiators. When Kevin was in town to visit his car, we were out with the wives one evening drinking Martinis, when Lisa told us she wanted a 69 convertible. Well Kevin does not forget these things and called me some months later a few weeks ago with a call I get quite often, telling me about a car. He knew Lisa wanted one, and he knew I wanted pretty much a basket case as I would like to limit my entry point. Long story short, Kevin checked into it more and said it looked pretty decent from a few feet, but had not got all over it. He also said the guy wanted $5000 for it which is cheap for a skeleton of a Camaro convertible anymore!
A week later, While on the phone with me, he went over all the areas I wanted checked out and kept telling me everything looked good, unbelivable. Long story short, before we hung up we agreed to try $3500 (Kevin was carrying) and if not, give him a deposit and pay whatever we had to pay as long as it was south of the $5000 asking.
I get a call 1 hour later letting me know AAA is on the way, and we got it for $3300!!!! And it drove on the wrecker!
I got the car shipped to me a few days ago, and it is real nice. It needs floors for pin holes, they have put sheetmetal over the pinholed floors, Rocker and rails are super solid. The outer body has a Macco paint job at best and a gallon or 2 of mud in it, but easy to fix. The Car is a original Daytona Yellow car (our favorite color, but I cannot do another yellow so soon after doing Petes), and a factory V8 and A/C car.
The car is easily worth $7000 to $10,000 as it sits. I am not sure how he did it, maybe he brought one of those step daughters, but he pulled a rabbit out of a hat for me.
This will be one of next Years in house projects. I think it will get the Pro Tour treatment, mini tubs, Blown LS motor, Probably only 600HP or so for her, A TKO, Prodigy Bar, And a Horton designed two tone, and something special inside.
She is going to do a lot of the work herself. I keep threatening to name it Project Milf! She keeps threatening to castrate me!

I am clearly hating...uhh...envying you right now. The last 69 vert I looked at was completely gutted, needed everything replaced, sub was off and had a locked up 6 cyl and 3 speed laying outside in the weeds. The lady wanted $3500 an got it, but not from me.

I still have to pick up the original wheels from the seller Frank. He has them burried in the back of his garage. I'll let you know on the status of them as soon as I can.

I was wondering if you were going to be able to get it. Everything go ok for the shipping? I'll have to stop by and take a look at it. It looks pretty good from the pics.

Frank,
Compared to some of the projects you have started with, rust buckets galore to name a few, this one looks like heaven. With your magic, no problem. Paint it what ever color the wife likes. Its worth the extra brownie points.

Frank,
Trust me after trying to find a 69 vert for over a year you stole that car.... IMO a vert that doesn't come in boxes for that price is freakin deal and a half....I will be following this build very closely to see what cool stuff you come up with...
Also let me know whenever you get a chance to inspect the repo 69 bodies up close...
Good luck

Frank,
Kevin told me about this the day it happened and I also couldnt believe it. Mixed emotions is correct. I wanted to kill him yet on the other hand I was sooo happy with the way the entire situation worked out between you and Kevin. Yes Kevin is god! :hail: Kevin.
:lmao: Project Milf!!!

Thats awesome! I have a line on a '69 coupe body that is supposedly straight and has minimal rust, rolling....for $1K. If its clean I'll buy it and store it for next year. There are still some good deals out there!

Indeed! It sounds to me like Kevin has some "marketable skills", if you know what I mean. I'm tapped out right now for room and funds, but the next time I want another car, maybe I should give Kevin a call.
