$741 a year for tertiary duty, events, clubs, drives, etc.

Are there suggestions on differing plans to use, are there options for higher annual mileage and what is the uptick with each step? 2500, 5000, 7500 miles etc?

I have a hagerty policy on my cutlass with an agreed value of 25,000, I have 12000 miles a year coverage (I drive mine alot and live 60 miles from the real world) policy is 580 yr. The add annual mileage almost doubled the price. I thank the same policy with 3500 miles was like 320 if I remember right.

I currently use SAFECO on my 1968 Coronet. I have it insured for $7000, full coverage with road side assistance for about $150 a year.

I think after $10000 they bring someone to inspect the car and estimate the value.

You might try Heacock. I have been with them since 2008. I never filed a claim but they looked good when I looked into insurance.

I'm using American Collectors Insurance and if I remember right I'm at a 25k agreed value with 2,500 mile annual limit. Cost is about $175/year. It includes roadside assistance, etc., and has a $1k deductible.

There are many threads like this and everyone has solid opinions but my money is on Alex Larue and Larue Classics. Alex is the broker and our insurance is thru American Modern. I've had a substantial claim and it went without a hitch.

Hmmm I signed up on Hagerty, but I'm at something like $650 a year, $1K deductable, 5K miles, tow coverage etc $40K agreed upon value (it's about $100 for every $10K it seemed). That seems like a better deal.. Will rethink this and do some more research but had to get the car on something.

Thanks!

first I have to thank Tommycomfort for the plug. Just after reading the thread, I ran a quote with one of my companies with high liability limits, 5,000 annual miles, $40,000 Agreed Value, $500 deductible comp and collision for a California car and the annual premium came in under $400 for a year. This is not a made up number. You can call us at 800-303-3518 or go to Affordable Classic, Antique, Vintage and Collector Car Insurance | LaRueClassics.com (http://www.LaRueClassics.com) and request a quote. Please mention this forum in the comments section. Thanks.

I just switched from Hagerty to American Modern via Alex Larue and saved close to $300 a year on a $60k agreed value.

Again only my opinion but I submitted a claim through Hagerty after someone backed into my door and the claim was handled quickly.

I see your quote is listed as 'modified' which results in a 50% surcharge. I had that happen on my 69 camaro due to the mods it had.

My Sunbeam Tiger is insured thru Heacock with American Modern as underwriters, the stated value is $120,000 an I am paying $690/ yr.
I have recently repaired 2 cars with insurance thru American Modern and service was great and the payment prompt.
Remember in getting stated value insurance, in most state the insurance will only pay 65% of the stated value to repair the car, if its over they total it.

Ya have read other threads, where some have stated they were denied due to HP and others citing they were not asked. I was asked all kinds of questions, horsepower, listed suspension mods, drivetrain mods, interior stock or custom, pictures of the car and of the trunk itself. They asked a heap ton of questions!!!

they even went as far as questioned my 5K a year claim, my agent had to tell them that the difference between 2500 and 5K was nominal, so that I chose the 5K to give me some room. Hagerty was curious as it was much more annual mileage than most classic machines they insure. <shrug>

I've heard good things about the Hagerty claim process and really it's all about how things are taken care of, if you have a claim. Most of us luckily will not ever have a claim, but it's important in that situation that our insurance company does everything they can for us. So far I've heard that about Hagerty

Hey Cactuss4, you brought up a very important point, you have an agent. It is best to have an agent who is involved in the collector car world and can help you when you need help. Guess what, it costs the same to have an agent as it does to go direct !!! As long as you are happy we should all be happy for you. If that changes, I'll be here.

PS We can insure the S4 on the same policy as the Chevelle.

Im getting quoted for $1000 for 80k agreed value with 3k miles a year. Im still looking for options. Do they offer a better discount while the car is being restored or does your home owners insurance cover this?

Verify with your insurer but my homeowners covered my parts when the car was disassembled... the question is at what point does it become a "car". Once I had the body and subframe together I had Hagarty with a "under construction" rate for an agreed upon value. I saved some $$ switching to American Modern through Larue Classics

I got a better rate through an all state agent who could write a hagerty policy then I got direct from hagerty. Just something to think about.

Mckeel Haggarty has to pay for ALL THOSE TV ADS somehow and charging a high premium is one way to cover the cost.

Good service, good coverage and you PAY for it!
