I've got a Pontiac 389 that I need to pull the freeze plugs out of the heads. The engine is out of the car so thats a plus, I was going to use a slide hammer to remove them but was wondering if anyone had a better or more efficient technique?
Any and all replies appreciated

I've allways pushed them in, then grab the edge with a large pair of slip joint pliers and lever it out. allways woked like a charm. Kinda scary to think about "loosing" one of the plugs into the block, but never had a problem with that.

What Rubes does is how I get em out. Ive only lost one or two down into the block but being as it was on an engine stand I just rolled the block over until I could grab it and fish it out.
