I have been searching for a bolt on SFI bellhousing for a 4L80e. I am nearly certain I seen the guys on Powerblock TV do one but I can't find the episode. All they did was use a cut off wheel to remove the housing and bolted the new SFI housing on. I know Hughes and a couple other companies offer it but you need to send the tranny in our have them build one for you. Neither of those options do not really work for me. If any one could help me track down the episode or knows a company that sells them I would greatly appreciate the help.

Adam,

You can get the SFI bell housings from Reid. They sell the adapter and the bell housings, but you have to mill the case and the pump for proper fitment. You can send your case and pump to us and we will prep it and supply the new SFI bell housing if you do not have a way to mill and prep everything.

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. I have posted this question on a couple different sites and the consensus is that I am going to have to have it sent off to do the milling on it. I do have access to a mill at work but I do not trust the guys there to do it for me and I am not skilled enough to do it myself. I already have the transmission and have heard some bad things about this companies 4L80 quality so I may end up having it rebuilt sooner than I had expected. I think I will wait until I have to have it rebuilt before I go and have the bellhousing installed.

I was actually going to email you guys today so since I have your attention maybe you can help me figure out which shifter will be best for me.

I have a '71 C10 that I am attempting to turn into a pro-touring machine. I am planning on running a twin-turbo 408 LS backed by a 4L80 trans, and I built a 9" with 3.50-ish gear ( cant remember the exact ratio right now but it is 3.50 something). I am planning on running a stock ECU out of a truck and plan on making around 1000hp but tunable down to 550-600 through boost reduction. I have been looking at your paddle shifters and am wondering which one would be best for my current setup and why it is the better choice.

Thanks again for your help,

Adam

Adam,

Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. If you are looking at running a stock ECU and want to use paddle shifters you need to either look at the Mastershift system or the GSM unit. Both of these will work with a factory ECU, but keep in mind this will actually controlling your gear selector (P,R,N,OD,D,2,1) so no shifter is needed. If you want to use a gear shift lever and paddles you will need to change your ECU to an aftermarket controller with Twist Machine paddles. This would only control up shifts and down shifts electronicly when the shift lever is in OD or D position. I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Mark
