B/G Rod Works wheels

Does anyone have experience with these wheels? The design looks good, price looks good, sizes are good...

I know they aren't forged, but neither are about 98% of the wheels on the road. (BTW... 84% of all quoted statistics are made up on the spot).

Regardless, just thought I'd see in anyone had some experience with this brand. I'm considering these:

for the money the wheels are fine, used to be made by Coys, and then the manufacturing rights were sold to Voxx wheels, I have run them for just over 2 years, my first set were Coys and the second set were B/G Rod Works and the match perfectly even the casting stamps on the back are the same, HEY they held up to a 115MPH jump at Run To The Coast and about 30 auto-crosses last year

I have the BG Rod Works/Voxx "Gasser" wheels in 18". Before that I have the MB Motoring "Old School" in 17", which is now sold by BG Rod Works. (same wheel Rod posted above)

Ok so I just researched these a bit and found these wheels are pretty inexpensive??!! 18's for $160/wheel??!! BG Rodworks website lets you believe they are American made too?? Is this possibly true @ $160/wheel?

There are no custom offsets with these wheels. They are also made in China. If you think that is a bad thing, don't look at the back of your newer cars wheels.

Voxx is part of The Wheel Group parent Co. They make tons of cast wheels sold here through many distributors. Quality is on par for any cast wheel out there which is pretty good.

I was looking at these wheels but noticed the certain sizes I wanted did not come in 5 on 4 3/4 so double check that.

Thanks for all the info guys. I just received my tires yesterday. I'm going to mock-up a plywood "wheel" to confirm required offset then should be set to order these BG Rod Works wheels.

Tire Size:
Rear - 275/40ZR17
Front - 235/45ZR17

yes plenty of room for flat caps

Different backspacing is available for the gasser in 17x8, but not 17x9.5 http://bgrodworks.com/eng/wheels/gasser-gun-metal-machined-face/

Old school is similar, 0 or 6 offset for 8" wide http://bgrodworks.com/eng/wheels/old-school-gun-metal/

As mentioned, all offsets may not be available in all bolt patterns.

I just picked up a set of the Gassers in 18x9 for my 1972 skylark over the weekend at the street rod nationals. $500 with lugs and they shipped free. They seem like great wheels for us budget touring guys. I will post an update when they get mounted.

After waiting for my wheels from August 9th - with a promised ship date of September 21st... I learn today that B/G Rodworks has now added another 60 days to the backorder!!!!

So, today I cancelled the wheel order. I'm back at square one. I sure wish shopping for wheels was easier, no two websites are the same, most won't let you shop/sort based on all the specific dimensions (including offset, etc..)....

I'd love to just order up some custom forged eye candy, but so far as I can tell there isn't such thing as a set of forged wheels for less than $1500.

If you see some orphan wheels out there with these specs, please let me know - I'll give them a good home.
17x8 with 4.75" bs (+6mm offset, 5x4.5"bc)
17x9.5 with 5.5" bs (+6mm offset, 5x4.5"bc)

You could try Ridler 695 wheels which are inexpensive and I think have 5.5" BS on 9.5's and 4.5" BS on 8's. You could also call and they might be able to shave the extra 1/4" off the pad of the 8's before they drill them. I went with showwheels streeters and they did that on my 9's to give me 5.5" BS on a 9", letting me run a 275 wide tire which sits 1/4" inward from where a 275 on a 5.5" BS 9.5 would sit. I ordered through JD wheels and I had them in about 1.5 weeks!

Try going to your local Discount Tire, that's where I got mine. They were in stock I believe in their CA warehouse. They may be able to get them quicker than wherever you ordered them from.
