I am looking to powdercoat a rear bumper to fit my 68. I found smooth (no exposed bolt heads) EDP coated 69 Camaro rear bumpers. I cant find these in a 68.
I am thinking the 69 will fit? Will it look funny (if it does fit) ? I want the shaved bumper look in a powdercoated finish to match my wheels.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks ! Any smooth 68 bumpers for sale out there?
Aluminum would be great or just smooth steel.

remember HOTROD mag "the real deal" a young lady who built a duel purpose 68 road coarse and drag car herself.she shaved the rear and front bumpers and just primed them.to look like fiberglass. shave the 68 and powder coat it.i like this look myself.

Hello, and thanks for the comment.
I have a bumper that is in good condition.
I am afraid that once the bumper bolts are shaved that
the bumper wont be 100 percent smooth where the bumper
bolts were. This would leave body work, which I am thinking
powdercoat wont stick to. I have heard of "all metal" body filler
which I am told may work?

80044dont think that will handel the heat required to powder coat.these pupies work well.how about brass weld? to fill any low spots and use a duel action sander,or palm sander working finer grit paper as you go.allmost as if your preping the bumper for new chrome.ruff in the welds with the grinder, then go to a course file then work with a finer file then sand paper.the scotch bright pads work great for finish work.(like used to port cyl.heads.get an old chiunk of steel and practice on it.go for it will be fun.go slow youll be fine.

I have a 1968 firebird and bought a 1969 camaro rear bumper to put on it.. It's definitely 3 inches wider. I'm planning on cutting and shaping to fit
