12.5x28x15 equates to 317.5/711/R15 (in MM) So, looks like you can fit a 315 back there. 315/30/18 would be 25.4" tall which is kind of small, and 315/35/17 would be 25.68" tall.

I'd suspect that the tire is not a true 12.5" wide tire(probably a section width of 11" or so), and if you want to maintain the height, consider Nitto's drag radials 305/35/18 or 305/45/18. 26.4" and 28.8" tall respectively.

Actually a 12.50x28x15 would be around a 325/50R15, that is the closest p-metric size. (Ralph, what is a 317.5/711??, I think you just did the math and forgot to put it in actual tire size format)

You're right, I did, I didn't convert the aspect ratio(I was being lazy). 711 is the MM conversion from 28". If you were to actually convert 317/711 into an 18" wheel, in a perfect world, the tire would read 317/40/18 or 317/52/15 in a 15" wheel. That was alot of thinking, my head now hurts.
