A friend of mine passed on some information about two local cars, that he though I would be interested in for projects, while I am working out my other future project.

1987 Monte SS Aero Coupe and a 1987 El Camino, that has been modified some by adding the SS style front body work and a steel rear roll pan. Both cars are priced right, but I am only willing to build one of them right now.

Both cars need work and are in ok condition. I hope to get pics of them this week and have a better look at them.

Right now I figure I am about 6 months or better away from starting my other project, I have planned.

Not sure which would be a better project though. The El Camino would be different, but I think the Monte Would make a great PT style car, with it being an Aero Coupe model.

Any suggestions?

Love the EC and I haven't seen many all done in PT.

A local guy here has an aero and seems pretty knowledgable. He said those rear windows are extremely hard to find and super expensive if you do. I think they're very interesting but rarity of parts may be reason to pause. God forbid if it breaks.

Any info on the engine size differences?

Both are basic SBC Automatic cars.

I went and spoke with the owner of the Monte today and looked over the car. Not in great shape, but have seen a lot worse.

The EL Camino is more of resto-mod, with better wheels and paint( The owner opinion ). Plus he has an offer already for the car. So I am going back to talk with the Monte's owner and work out a deal tomorrow at lunch.

We will see.
