tach signal problem, set to 8 still not moving tach

I had the programmer set the tach resolution to 8 in my 69 ls1 to use the factory tach but still it will not work at all, also tried a aftermarket tach and nothing.
any ideas what to do next?

Try setting your after market tach to 4 cyl signal to see if the change was done at the ECU. Maybe the programmer forgot to make the change.

You evidently need to do the tach signal pullup mod in order to get your tach working.

Probably but there is nothing on a tach set to 4 cyl either, the 1st programmer forgot to take out vats and t/c brake switch. problem is the current and only programmer around programed it 2 times and doesn't care if I have a tach . I need to either find a tach signal on the tach moduel or find a better programmer.
