Im wiring up my Vintage Air Gen IV and am wondering if anyone wired the white wires to a chassis ground or does it HAVE to go to the battery ground. I have a remote mount battery and chassis ground would make it soo much easier.

Chris, I have installed 3 VA systems so far and they are pretty specific about using the battery post as a ground for the white wires. The electronics on the GenIV systems are sensitive and need battery ground for some reason. I had problems with the blower speed controller when it was grounded to chassis. Use battery.

you could consider running the bat Negitive up to the firewall and ground it to the Negitive there...

I just had a problem with that. If you disconnect your battery like I do the system goes nuts looking for a ground even when off and the blower comes on until the batter is dead then the whole system has a fit.
They way over complicated the ac wiring.

I've wired many VA Gen IV kits. Never once have I connected the main grounds to the battery. I also cut the power side of the harness up -- and wire it to the power block.

I think VA does that to avoid having to hold folks' hands that don't understand how properly ground a vehicle.

Having said that, if you have electrical or electronic glitches, and you call VA for support: guess what question they'll ask first? :)

Find a place where you would like to ground it and use a meter to check for resistance. That is the only logical reason to connect to the battery directly. Maybe the systems react weird with negative resistance ???
