I'll keep it brief....but the basics of this build was to take a new truck and built it pro-touring style with some show-n-shine thrown in for good measure.
It's a 2012 Dodge Ram R/T
Suspension mods...since in my mind that's where it all starts:
Modified McGaughys 2/4 drop to 3/5
Spohn Performance adjustable 4 link bars
Spohn Performance adjustable panhard bar
Hellwig sway bars front and rear
Energy Suspension poly bushings and bump stops everywhere
Adjustable QA1 shocks
Custom adjustable sway bar end links
Rotora 16" front rotors with 8 piston calipers
Rotora 15" rear rotors with 4 piston calipers
One-off ADV.1 wheels. 22x10 5.0 M.V2's (forged 2 piece wheels)
Pirelli Scorpion Zero Assimetrico 305/40/22 tires

Obviously some concessions for aesthetics were made...remember it has to "show" well also.
The wheels are super light weight so I didn't give up as much by using 22's as some might think.

Suspension doesn't matter without power so....
It's obviously a 5.7 Hemi.
87mm throttle body
Electric fan
Ported and polished 6.1 Hemi intake manifold
ARH long tube headers with high flow cats
Dual 3" exhaust with an X pipe and twin Magnaflow mufflers...all stainless and mandrel bent
60lb injectors with full fuel system with -6 hose
Procharger with custom piping
70/30 methanol/water mix

I guess that's it for now...looking into a big stroker motor this winter.

And since I do plan to drive it on long trips the inside had to be comfortable and have a nice stereo system.
It has:
Katzkin leather
Suede headliner
Focal Utopia Be 3 way front stage
JL Audio 12W6v3 sub
2 Mosconi AS 200.4 amps
Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 DSP
Passport 9500ix

And I'm sure I forgot a thing or 2.

I'm about 8 months into this build. I started with a brand new truck instead of something classic but I have different plans for a 70 Ford short bed I have my eyes on. This was intended to be my weekend toy and nothing more.

So...is it pro-touring or did I miss the mark?

I dig it. Not sure where you live, but this is a definite contender at a "Truckin Throwdown" event. (Truckin magazine) So, I have a touchy, but fair question. - As to the brake upgrade, compared to the OE anti-locks, perhaps with upgraded pads, do you think the aftermarket brakes are a big improvement, performance wise? They look Bitchin, but I wonder if the braking is that much better. - Not knockin them at all, just seeking the truth.

Nice clean ride....have you hit the track with it yet?

The brakes just went on last week. I honestly haven't had time to truly test them out. My feel right now is that they're a huge improvement over stock but that's with just normal driving stuff. I haven't done any really high speed stops to see how they fade or hold up.
As far as the Truckin' stuff...I'm actually doing a photo shoot with them next month at Fontana. I know several guys with that company...I'm hoping they'll fill me in on some of the stuff you're talking about when I meet up with them. I'd love to get involved with some stuff like that.
I really need to rework to rear link bars first though. Lowering this thing really threw it out of whack. I'm at a shop today messing with a few things and trying to book some time for them to work on it.

Killer truck. Anything that is faster than stock and turns a wheel in anger once in a while has a place around here in my opinion.

Yes. That is badass. Out of interest how much does it weigh? Looking forward to video of it doing it's thing.

It's a heavy pig....right at 5000lbs with my 250 sitting in the seat.

Wow. I figured - it does make the 22s look like 18s in the photo. Big = fun. Again, can't wait for the track report. Neat piece of machinery.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I hope to meet some of the SoCal guys at some events sooner or later. After taking a hard look at the rear suspension yesterday we decided it needs some serious work to get the geometry in shape. Just lowering the OEM 4link style suspension did hideous things.
We're gonna go into it in a few weeks and completely rebuild that part plus ditch the urethane bushings for heims.
Soon as that's done I'll be ready to come out and give this stuff a shot. I'll suck at it but it looks like too much fun not to try.

I guess mine doesn't fit. I am new here and tried to start a new thread and post up some pics, but the moderators won't "approve" the thread.

Oh well . . .

I'll find another site that likes trucks that have won the autocross at a Goodguys Show.

Later!

Maybe PM a staff member before you take your ball and go home? Sounds like a cool, capable truck.

wicked truck! I have a 2012 ram 1500 as well in silver. Mines a 4x4 tower though. Just curious about your headlights. They look awesome! How do they perform? where did you get them from?

Thanks

The lights are OEM 2013 Ram Sport lights that were taken apart and painted body color. They work about as well as any stock light...which means they suck.

I've got some 4 link issues to fix then I hope to see how bad I suck at driving it on a course somewhere.

I fricken love it! I cant believe someone could'nt be attracted to the new Dodges styling. I know im bias as a Mopar head already but, really? people actually consider what the other truck makers are putting out there attractive? Yall need your eyes checked! Unbroken you wouldnt be the same guy who used to have a Ford 6.0 oil burner would you?

I did...until I windowed the block. I replaced it with a twin turbo Cummins. I sold that truck to a friend in Kentucky last year.

Cool I thought so, I remember you from Dodge Truck World. I may be guilty of giving you a hard time about your 6.0 once or twice. You pickups then and now are very tastefully modified. Wasn't it you also that the Shelby style lights in the grille of you 6.0 too?

I actually did a Shelby style bumper in steel before I sold it but I did have them in the grille for a bit. I only say Shelby7 style cause that's the only thing I've ever seen that came with driving lights close together in the center like that.

Here it is pre-paint and before final light fitment.

Thanks. That truck was a blast to build....probably my favorite project to date. That thing was in 3 magazines 4 different times and got a ton of other press. The money from selling that is what enabled me to build this Ram so fast.

That's a good looking truck. Always been a fan of the dodge trucks. Although I am a true chevy guy at heart. But this one looks like a real monster. Do you have any ideas on what events you may be attending with it? Would really like to see it in action.

LOVE this truck!!! I just bought a '05 Ram 1500, Regular cab, short bed and am going to do a mild build. This is an inspiration to us later model Dodge truck owners. :)
