Hello guys, just wanted to introduce my self and my project. Her name is Evil Angel, she is an angry redhead with me most of the time but I have grown used to her temper through the years.

My dad bought her in 72 when I was 5. I got her when I turned 14,right after my sister tried to total it. Drove it through high school and began the first restoration when I was 18, finished 11 years later. Jeez long project.... Well fast forward many years adding a wife kids, and jobs(life in general) I have decided to redo her. The first restomod include a high tech suspension for the day H~O RACING's A body kit with duragraph bushings and big sway bars and increased spring rates helped to straighten the corners(fun too!!)and the 72 chevelle disc brakes made it stop better than the drums but a trip out last fall up a local mountain drive revealed some weaknesses and I wanted better. So a couple of weeks ago I walked into the shop and began tearing her down again.

But I am just about ready to lift the body after a few more things will be removed but that will have to wait. Having knee surgery in a day or so and will be out of action for awhile. So I guess I can just research more parts or continue to sketch out ideas. I just wanted to show you my little project and what has begun. When I get some more time I will post what most of my intentions are with her.

Thanks David. The thumb is doing much better, just doesn't look pretty. Yes I am glad that I kept it all these years and both my teenagers are fighting over who gets it when I kick the bucket.

I plan this to be a pretty substantial makeover with sheet metal mods minitub to fit 335/30 18 in the rear, wilwood brakes, ridetech triple adjustables coil overs on all 4 corners just to name a few changes. My father in law gave me a base 383 stroker a couple of years ago and I decided to tear it apart and modify it for a fuel injection and hydraulic roller cam , etc, etc.... and going to be backed up by a t56. Other changes will be in the interior with changes to the dash and replacing the bench seat with buckets(still undecided on which kind).

Unfortunately it will be a slow progress build and will update when I can, And I am quite sure I will have a ton of questions in the future.

Just thought I would post up a cou[le of additional pictures of where I got to before my knee surgery. The knee is doing better now, 2 weeks after the surgery and I am starting to get back into the shop. No squatting for a while so will have to modify my habits when working. Ha.

I have reached a point where all I can do is the body work right now so I will get to that as time, work and my kids football schedule allow. I am going to teach my 13 year old how to do basic body work along the way. He is buying a 1948 chevy truck for his first car and we will try to get it going for him by his 16th birthday. Funny thing is he is eyeballing the parts coming off the elky for his project. Most won't be a problem as alot of the parts won't be gonig back on. I have a plan for all this . it will just be slow in progress saving for the parts. So don't expect quick updates. Lol.

None of the moldings will be going back on, and I am still working on a plan to remove all the bed and cab trim, and make it look good. Removing the factory tail lights and will fill them in, just haven't decided for sure which tail light I want to use. I plan on flushing in the front and back glass, also converting the side glass to one piece and removing the vent windows. The grill will be modified and so will the front bumper. All is going to fit nicer( I hope) than the factory design and allow better airflow to the radiator through some modified shrouding.

The driveline combo is going to be a hydraulic roller fuel injected 383 stroker/T56 going back into a ford 9". I am also planning 18x9 front and 18x12 rear wheels and Wilwood big brakes all around. I am hoping to afford a set of forgeline VX3C when this project is near completion.

There will be more done to this car, but this is just the beginning. My wife was a street rodder when I met her( Yes I married her for her chopped 39 ford cabriolet), so she is designing the look with me. I am a muscle car guy , but I like the cleanness of the street rod and the handling and braking of PT. So I am going to mix it all up. I hope you enjoy the ride with me, altough a slow ride for updates.

Nice ride Chris, looks like you and I are traveling the same road a few years apart. I'll be looking forward to your progress. Is your Elky a manual tranny to start with? Are you planning on a manual or hydraulic clutch?

Thanks. She started out life with a 283/powerglide factory ac/ps/pb and original red ext and black int. The first build I did was 28 years ago as a resto mod. This time I am wanting more modern handling and reliable power. I am planning for a t56 trans with hyd clutch. Some of my choices in regards to headers negated the manual linkage and I did not want the eye sore under the hood. I am not striving for beauty queen looks under the hood but I am trying to smooth and clean things up as much as possible.

Unfortunately my 13 year old son brought home a 1951 chevy truck that we are building together so he has a ride when he is 16. With limited funds at my disposal right now his takes precedence. He love that last part because he will be driving his toy before me. I hope to make an occasional update when something happens with her but right now I am sitting back researching parts and what has to be cut and making plans. I am also trying to figure out how to put her on a diet, she was a bit portly on the scales, 3719 with me in the seat. So that number needs to be adjusted some. I believe some of my mods will help because the weight numbers really need to adjust some to the rear.

Abc performance has a kit to allow 335/30 in the rear and stiffen the frame so that will be the next purchase and mod. I am smoothing out the firewall now. But no progress othe than mocking it up. I am building a street rod in my shop for a friend and trying to work prn at two jobs doesn't leave a lot of time for much.

Good luck with your build It all about what you want to do with your car anyway that makes it fun. Remember a bad day in the shop is still better than a good day at work. But I work in a hospital so there are no good days there. Lol.

Mark, Will do on the 51. As progress happens I will update in it's own thread. I will say he has enjoyed getting out and learning some new things but his Xbox can quickly cripple his will power to stay in the shop. He has also recently discovered girls smell nice and look good so he has a lot of distractions now and summer football practice around the corner. Lol.

Also thanks on the El camino. My wife swears I have been having an affair with it for years. I also told her never make me choose between them. I got to sleep in the shop after that one.
