Will LS1 rears fit full size Chevy rear?

I'm trying to help a friend that is looking to do an LS1 brack swap on his 65 Impala. I know more about the A body stuff, but I wasn't sure if the axle flange had a different bolt pattern for the Full Size cars? He found someone selling a rear kit and before he drives an hour, I guess it would be good to know what he needs(if anything) to make it work? Wheel clearance won't be an issue since he's running 20" rear. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not 100% certain but I believe the big cars of that era have a larger bolt pattern at the axle flange than an A- or F-body. There are some dimensions of the flange here: http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Rearend_identification so compare them to the flange on his axle to see if they are the same or different.

65 Impala has 5 on 4 3/4 wheel bolt pattern and a standard chevy backing plate bolt pattern. Its essentially the same as a Chevelle. You may be getting info mixed up with later model full size cars that went to a 5 on 5" wheel bolt pattern.

Yes but you need a rear spacer to center the caliper on the rotor.

In the book "Camaro, Untold Secrets", in the JL8 brake section, it says they used passenger car (b-body) housing which have a larger outer bearing and housing end, which has a larger pattern. So it may be a larger pattern, I would measure the axle flange before buying a brake kit just to be sure.

I told him to just go ahead and buy them. LS1 rear kits are never hard to get rid of, especially on here.

i thought they used the Corvette flange on the JL8, since it was just Corvette parts added to the Camaro?
