Hey guys, I'm working a 67 Camaro and I'm thinking about using an AutoRad core support and radiator. Since the battery would be a tight fit with this set up, I was wondering besides weight distribution and freeing up some space in the engine compartment, what are the benefits of putting the battery in the trunk?

Thanks,

Its easier to run a kill switch in a less conspicuous looking place for the track.

Weight distrubution, or at least for the drag racers. Probably wouldnt hurt to get some weight off the nose in the pt world.

Thanks guys, I'm not planning on taking the car to the dragstrip much, going the PT route thou. I've been reading some posts on locating the battery in the trunk and I'm trying to figure out if it is worth the trouble.

Does anyone have any pictures of how and where you ran the starter and alternator wires through the firewall and through the car to the battery on a 1st gen camaro? Did you run the wires on the passenger side where the sill plates is? I'm thinking about putting the battery in the trunk.

Run it under the car along the frame rails.

Like most things, putting the battery in the trunk causes other compromises. We wrote an online article about exactly that a few months ago:
