I drive by this thing almost every day, pizzes me off every time but I cant help but look at it....every time. Word has it the guy will not sell it and is going to "fix it up for his son" If his son is the guy I think he is he's about thirty. Ive seen this thing completely covered in snow from the driveway. Finally went up and snapped some pics. Its rougher than it looks, the A pillars are rusted through at the base. The interior is complete with black buckets and console, the original looking 4 spd shifter is still there so Im assuming the engine and trans are still there also. Wiped the dirt off the tag....last plated 1974!

I tried to buy a 67 Firebird from a guy for years, nothing special, but a 350 4 speed car. Used to be a nice car in the 70's I watched him park it and it turn to rust over the decades. I'd stop by from time to time to chat and make an offer. Tried one last time a few years back when the floors, trunk, and lower quarters were shot. He said it was worth 10K but would take 5K since it would be worth 50k restored. Yeah right.
I offered $1500, which is twice what it was worth, but half what I'd offered years before when it was still in fair condition. Left him my number again, and said to call if he changed his mind.
It got hauled off and sold for scrap a couple of years ago, nothing left. Probably got a couple hundred at most.
I understand sentimental value, no plan to sell, and dream plans, but don't let it rot into nothing.

I hate when sellers try to use restored value to up their asking price especially when its not a rare car. Sell the car for what its worth now, not for what it could be worth once the buyer puts his time and money into it.
So many cars rot away due to grandiose dreams that go unfulfilled...

that's like the worst possible way to let the car sit also.
moisture creeps up from below and just rots the bottom.
Plus that tree dropping stuff in the back window is going to cause some serious rot in that filler piece.

I want to know what happened with the car that he decided to stop driving an 8 year old car. Sad to see it like that though.

There was a '66 Nova SS in the back yard of a house I go by almost daily. I tried for 5 years to buy that car, (about the time I bought my Camaro). It also sat under a tree and was rotting away. They finally moved it between their house and the house next door. Sat there for about a year and then they moved and took the car with them. I'll never know what happened to that car but it would've made a very nice street car. Looked to be complete as well. The guy said he just didn't want to sell it and was going to fix it up someday. Oh well............

There is a 66' Nova coupe (not SS) where I live that is rotting away under a carport. From what I've been told the owner's son died in Vietnam and they said they will never sell the car (was supposed to be given to him). Nobody has driven it since the mid to late seventies...I tried to buy it in the early 90's, currently it's in about the same condition as the GTO above. My highschool buddy's Dad had a 69' RS/SS Camaro. Bigblock, power windows etc...same thing, sitting since the late 70's...by the time he agreed to sell it, I tried to open the hood and the underside split completely from the top. Was way beyond restoration and he ended up towing it to the dump...

Theres a lady in my area that has , maybe 6-8 old mustangs sitting on her property , letting them rot away . There's a big block Mach 1, 2 Boss 302's (believe 69), a 67 or 68 fastback and a couple of coupes. The cars belonged to her ex-husband, who was a bum and left them there , when he took off with some bar fly. The guy died and the cars are hers. She will not sell them because they remind her of the good days with her ex. A friend of mine is married to her sister and has tried to get her to sell them, but she's very wacky and refuses. She's even put up signs on the property about cars not for sale , don't even ask. They are all just about to the point that they're not salvageable. Very sad.

Oh what a shame. I'm a GTO guy. This kills me. I understand sentimental value and all but at some point you just have to admit to yourself you're not going to do it and let someone else have a crack at it. If I was him, I would sell it on one condition. When it was done I got to take a ride and drive it around the block once, just a drive. Not beating on it. That's it. I think most car guys would agree to it, completely understand, and honestly follow through. I know I would.
I know where there's a 69??? Superbee. Im not a mopar guy but i think that's what it is. I found it when I was house shopping 6-7 years back. A buddy lives behind the guy. Its buried under piles of **** in his garage and all you can see is the back end from the rear tires back. Literally buried under garbage. The house is literally falling apart. Gutters hanging, siding is shot etc. Its yellow and has the black wraparound in the back. The guy I know that lives by him has tried to buy it. Its not for sale. It was the guys first car and hes going to restore it someday....right. My buddy told me it's a 440/6pack, 4 speed car. I'm not a Mopar guy so i'm not sure if that's what came in those, if it is I can only assume its worth a ton of money and probably pretty rare. Anyhow I guess at least its inside not rotting outdoors??
I also know where there are 2 SS Chevelles just sitting and rotting outdoors on a guys property. They have been at least for the last 15 years. One is a 70 SS, the other a 66 SS.....why this guy just lets these sit I will never understand??
They don't make them anymore and it drives me insane to see this stuff happen.....
