I'll be taking my Mustang up to Adam's for a shakedown today. I'm not sure which session I'll make, but probably not the 6PM one. My cousin will also go, but this time he'll be trying out a friend's Evo IX RS.

So the results from two weeks ago were that I ran a 52.00 and had trouble with the shifter mechanism in my car. Whenever I have trouble with my car, I just get too worried to really push. My cousin ran a 47.38 in 7 pm session and a 46.53 in the 8 pm session in the Evo.

I went back again yesterday with a new Hurst shifter and was finally able to push the car and find the limits a bit. I ended up with a 49.18. The car has more in it. I was mostly concentrating on my approach to the chicane. I'm still not heel-toeing aggressively enough to rev match there (I'm still not used to the closer spacing with the 3.55's as compared to my 2.73's; things happen faster) so I was getting a bit of rear lockup. This caused me to give myself a little room for error so I wouldn't turn in while the rear tires were skidding.

According to the Adam's schedule, next week is supposed to be "American vs Import Winter format competition." I think winter format just refers to the fact that you get 4 timed laps per run for the sake of tire temperature. I'm not sure how they're really going to make things any different than a normal week. Maybe they'll post "winners" on facebook or something.

      American vs Import Night

The AMP people just layed out the rules for their American vs import night. My cousin will be there with his Mustang. He should be good for 46's or 47's. We'll see how the car is on its new NT05's. I might go. Rob, what's the status on your truck?

American Cars vs Import Cars Competition Rules:
Fastest 5 American and Imports Lap Times will be totalled in the 3rd Session.

Apparently this is going to be a monthly event, happening every 4th Tuesday (of the month.)

I guess my cousin isn't taking his car. Bah, I'm not in a mood to see the JDM-chest pounding-fest. I only know of a couple of really quick American cars that have been to AMP and none of them seem to be going. I think we'll have to plan around some future 4th Tuesday.

Hopefully, they'll have this during a week I'm already down there. Would be fun. On another note, I see people saying they saw results and lap times. Where are they available online?

That looks oretty cool. I still don't have my rear shocks back from ridetech. there's no real reason to go out without them (or the current stand-ins) - I learned a hard lesson in Del Mar about shocks. This looks like fun if we can get a quick group out there. keep me posted. Also, mark you calander for Thursday march 29. We are hosting a track day at AMP, along with drive magazine. This is the thursday right before Del Mar Goodguys. I'll post up a thread with all the info as it is avail.

None of my discussions about a track day with them ever panned out so I am glad you got someone to step up.

Let me know if you guys would like to get involved. This will be a full day event, blending into a mixed night of time attack and drifting exebition. Should be fun.

      Rob,

I spoke to Sal and he is definitely willing to help with the event on March 29th. I ended up talking to Marcel for an hour yesterday about it. I think what you guys are cooking up is exactly what I was hoping it was.

So I pose the question to the community. How many people would be willing to take off work the Thursday before Del Mar to do an inexpensive full day event at Adams?

Things are quickly taking shape here. This is turning from a media only event, to an open to american power event. We have a monday a.m. meeting set, I'll post up info after that.

All depends on my eligibility to run the Autocross at Del Mar GG. Hope I can come down and have some fun at Adams.

"take off work" - check. "inexpensive" - check. "full day event" - check. "at Adams" (local) - check

      Count me in :-)
