      Solid state dis-connect systems?

Are the solid state type battery disconnects generally approved for you at most events. I am looking at one from Cartek - www.cartek.biz , they have FIA approval, so I am hoping that this would work as I do not want to use the regular twist know style or the remote handle style set-up.

These work with an internal and extrenal push button switch and would be a lot easier to use and mount for the layout of the car we are building.

For HPDE events you won't have any issues. If you are going to do class-based racing, there's a bunch of different rules you'll need to wade through.

From what I have read a battery disconnet is required, but the do not say which type or style. The only requirements I have found is it must be with in reach of the driver while seated with harness in place also able to be reached by safety personal from the outside of the car and clearly marked.

With this type of system there is a push button or toggle switch mounted in the cabin and a second switch mounted outside. With the GT40's windows besing solid mounted and only a small wing like window that is hinged to open to the inside.

I will have to see if I can find a safety inspector for either NASA or SCCA and see what they say.

You can usually get in email contact with NASA folks pretty easily. I did that on my Z06 6pt harness.

Ok, I will try that. Better to know now than later after everything is built and done. I also have to check on about the roll cage for the car, as there is a few options from RCR and not sure which one will be the best choice.

I use this one on my car. It's the same one Watson Streetworks sells but it's a lot cheaper. I found it at a local big rig truck supply house for about $45. It's from Cole Hersee and the part number is 24200.
